PIRATTEEEESSS!!!! Some of you may find pirates way too cruel to be our good overpowered MC, but that’s not the case of the anime One Piece. You could be anywhere powerful, just like our characters, after eating any of the devil fruit… I recommend trying Gomu Gomu no Mi, tho.
The fact that you’ll be about to watch over a thousand episodes with an extra few movies, ovas, and specials will get you over the feeling of being confused about choosing whether to watch something first over the whole. But to make things a lot easier, this anime is divided into sagas and arcs.
Sooooo, without further ado, here are the order of watching the episodes, OVAs, movies, and specials in One Piece.

Saga
1. East Blue Saga

The story starts with a flashback to the time when Gol D. Roger was killed. Before he drops dead, he informs the throngs of people to go out and look for his treasure. This initiated the Golden Age of Pirates, when many pirates brought up their flags then set out to find the legendary treasure One Piece.
This Saga is mostly about Luffy going to the Grand Line as well as putting together a crew. During this saga, Luffy makes four new friends: Zoro, Sanji, Nami, and Usopp.
2. Arabasta Saga

When the Straw Hat Pirates finally get to the Grand Line, the criminal group Baroque Works goes after them. They encounter Nefertari Vivi and make a decision to help her country get back on its feet. As they move across the Grand Line, they fight off attempts by Baroque Works to kill them. They also meet Luffy’s brother, Ace, and two giants called Broggy and Dorry, and they add Tony Tony Chopper to their crew.
With the outcome of Arabasta in the balance, the story comes to a close with a full-on fight between Baroque Works and Straw Hats, led by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Mr. 0 (also known as Crocodile). After Roronoa Zoro and Luffy beat Baroque Works, they got paid.
3. Sky Island Saga

When a ship that’s been around for hundreds of years fall out of the sky, the crew starts to wonder if the stories about the Skyland are true. In the meantime, the World Government gets the other warlords together to talk about who should replace Crocodile. Shanks talks to Whitebeard, and Ace meets Buggy. The Straw Hat Pirates are able to get to Skypiea with the help of Mont Blanc Cricket in Jaya. There, they face Enel, the fake god who rules the sky. Luffy later beats Enel.
4. Water 7 Saga

They soon get into trouble, though, and make enemies both with the Franky Family, who break apart ships, and the Galley-La Company, which builds ships and has some of the best carpenters in the world working for it. They also find out that Going Merry is dropping dead, and Luffy makes the decision to just get a new ship because of this. Usopp doesn’t agree with the crew’s decision, so he leaves. While the crew works to get Robin back, CP9 captures Robin against her will and runs away to Enies Lobby.
Finally, they set her free and just get Franky, a shipwright, to join their crew. Usopp profusely apologizes and is welcomed back into the crew as they are leaving. The Straw Hat Pirates are now ready to set sail with a new ship as well as shipwright, Thousand Franky and Sunny, as well as Robin and Usopp.
5. Thriller Bark Saga

When the Straw Hat go to Thriller Bark, a ghost island, they meet the Shichibukai. It shows what happens to the Straw Hat Pirates, especially Luffy, after they split up at the Sabaody Archipelago. A huge war breaks out among the World Government as well as the Whitebeard Pirates. This war started when Marshall D. Teach beat Portgas D. Ace, and it ended when Ace was killed at Marineford. It has five different story lines.
When they get to Sabaody Archipelago, another Warlord named Bartholomew Kuma splits them up and sends them to different regions of the world. Luffy will be sent to Amazon Lily where he will make friends with the Warlord of the Sea, Boa Hancock, who becomes infatuated with him. When Luffy finds out that his brother is going to be killed, he has to make the hard choice of saving his brother first and then going back to his crew.
7. Fish-Man Island Saga

It starts two years after the events at Marineford, when the Straw Hat are split up. It starts with the Straw Hats getting back together at Sabaody Archipelago. They are getting ready to sail to the New World, but they have to go through Fish-Man Island first. They beat the Fish-Man Pirates as well as the Flying Pirates, who wanted to take over and destroy the island, and they declared war on Big Mom.
8. Dressrosa Saga

The Straw Hat finally make it to the New World, and yet they soon get a distress signal from the Punk Hazard, where Dr. Vegapunk’s old lab used to be. They get caught up in Caesar Clown’s illegal experiments and make a deal with Trafalgar Law in order to get rid of Kaidou. They fight Don Quixote Doflamingo and find out about a plot that has been going on for 10 years in Dressrosa. Their actions against the Warlord caused a huge earthquake all over the world and led to the creation of the Grand Fleet.
9. Four Emperors Saga

The alliance Ninja-Mink-Pirate-Samurai is made to get rid of Kaidou. As Luffy tries to save his mate Sanji from Big Mom’s plans, he gets mixed up with some other Emperor, Big Mom. At the same time, the World Government’s royals are getting together for Levely, as well as the Revolutionary Army is moving, which will cause a huge shift in the world’s power.

1. One Piece: The Movie

3. The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventures in Alabasta

A conflict disrupts and destroys the Thief Brothers’ ship, culminating in Nami’s kidnapping by Trump Siblings ships. The group sails to Clockwork Island only with wood and a sail. Traps line the island’s stairs.
At the headquarters, Nami meets the Bear King. When he sees her, he proposes. The Thief Brothers and Straw Hats reach the island’s main street. The islanders aren’t in a position to enjoy the beauty. Oblivious to the fact that Akizu is their son, they explain the island’s history. In contrast, they assault the castle, surrounding the island’s key.
Straw Hats are eliminated until only Luffy remains. War erupts as he liberates his soldiers and reaches the peak. The Trump siblings are defeated, and the key is lost. The Straw Hats regain their ship as Clockwork Island collapses, reuniting Akizu and his family.
4. Chopper’s Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals
Release Year: 2007 Running Time: 61 minutes
Vivi and the Straw Hats meet Crocodile’s second-in-command, Mr. 2. He shows the Straw Hats how he can assume anyone’s form and speech to illustrate the devil fruit’s power. Vivi says Crocodile, CEO of Baroque Works, uses Dance Powder to appear to become the country’s hero.
He also angered rebel and royal soldiers by recruiting them in an attrition battle. After Straw Hats get to Alabasta and cross the desert, they find the rebel camp abandoned while Koza, a childhood friend of Vivi’s, watches Baroque Works members acting as royal army troops destroy Nanohana.
Mr. 2 plays Nefeltari Cobra, the monarch, and commands the troops to attack Alubarna. Ms. All Sunday and Crocodile catch the Straw Hats in the desert. Luffy stayed behind to watch Vivi when the remainder of the Pirates Straw Hats escaped Crocodile. Crocodile hooks Luffy thru the chest as well as buries him alive.
5. Dead End Adventure

The Straw Hats and their newest member, Chopper, go to an island where there are strange animals. A fountain sends their spaceship into the air before they can land. When Chopper falls, he lands in the middle of a group of animals. For them, the celebration is a way to get a king or queen to come down from the heavens, and that’s what they’re doing. When that story comes true, they madke Chopper their new leader.
6. The Cursed Holy Sword
Release Year: 2004 Running Time: 95 minutes
On Asuka Island, Straw Hat found out about the Shichiseiken, which is a creature that only exists in stories. Zoro goes missing, and the marines also attack the island. When Luffy and his crew happened to find Zoro in hostile territory, they had to fight off marines.
7. Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island
Release Year: 2005 Running Time: 91 minutes
When Luffy and the Straw Hat saw a commercial for Omatsuri Island, which was the only place to go on the Grand Line for fun, they went there immediately.
The group gets excited about trying out the spas, casinos, beautiful women, and good food. When they get there, though, they are told they have to go through the ordeals of Baron Omatsuri so that they can relish the resort. They’re very upset.
As they stay on the island longer, they run into more problems. The Straw Hat Pirates are always fighting with each other, and strange things are going on all around them. Straw Hat needs to find out what’s really going on on Omatsuri Island, or else they could fall apart from fighting among themselves.
8. Giant Mecha Soldier of Karakuri Castle
Release Year: 2006 Running Time: 95 minutes
Straw Hat takes a treasure box from a ship and finds an old woman inside. The woman offers them the riches brought by the golden crown concealed on her island, which is called Mecha Island, as a way to get them to agree to take her home. When the crew gets to the island, the leader of the island attacks them. He then has an epiphany and decides to ask for their help in solving the mysteries of the Golden Crown.
9. Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in the Winter, Miracle Cherry Blossom
Release Year: 2008 Running Time: 113 minutes
For the movie, the story of Drum Island is told again with new animation and music. Nico Robin and Franky, who came on board right after Drum Island, are both included. In fact, Vivi has been taken out of the story. The movie also shows the Straw Hat Pirates’ new ship, Thousand Sunny. Oda said that Mushul, Wapol’s older brother, would be the person who ate the Devil Fruit in this movie.
10. One Piece Film: Strong World
Release Year: 2008 Running Time: 113 minutes
East Blue struggling? Straw Hats hear the news while traveling. As their hometowns were in danger, they paused their activities. Luffy and his friends sailed to East Blue, where a strange floating pirate ship emerged. Golden Lion Shiki, an escaped Devil Fruit user, commands this ship. His crew included Whitebeard, Roger, as well as other notable pirates. Shiki uses Nami’s navigation skills to capture Luffy and his crew, sending them to her floating islands. After being separated, the squad must survive hazardous creatures in strange environments.
11. Straw Hat Chase

Every crew member of the Straw Hat Pirates went looking for Luffy’s missing straw hat right away. While Usopp and Chopper were checking out a ship that seemed to be empty, they found a sick pirate and agreed to take him back to the Thousand Sunny so he could get better. 12. One Piece Film: Z

The “Dyna Stones,” which are the ace cards, have been taken, and a former Marine Admiral called “Z” is going through a process as they try to get the Straw Hat back.
In the New World, Kuzan meets the Straw Hat Pirates, and the Marine finally moves forward to deal with the plot that tries to shake the foundations of the New World. Now, Luffy and his group of misfits are making a move toward Z, using his huge power.
13. One Piece Film: Gold
Release Year: 2016 Running Time: 120 minutes
On the way to Gran Tesoro, volleyball games are played by Chopper, Robin, Nami, and Franky, and sumo wrestling matches are held by Usopp and Luffy. When they stopped for a barbecue, the straw hats were on their way to Gran Tesoro.
14. One Piece: Stampede
Release Year: 2019 Running Time: 101 minutes
The action of the movie took place at the Pirates Festival, which is run by the pirates for the pirates all around the world. During this festival, pirates from all over the world, including some of the most famous pirates, arrive together to take part in a huge hunt for a long-lost treasure that pertains to Gold Roger.
15. One Piece Film: Red
Release Year: 2022 Running Time: no information
Uta is the world’s most popular singer. Her voice has been called “otherworldly” because she always hides who she is when she performs. Uta will now present herself to everyone for the first time at a concert. The location fills up with all sorts of excited pirates, with the navy as well as the Straw Hat Pirates led by Luffy, who just wanted to appreciate her powerful performance with the voice that everyone has been expecting to hear. The shocking part of the story is that Red-Haired Shanks is her “father.”
OVAs
1. Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack!
Luffy, Zoro, and Nami squat in a tiny boat on a windless, bright, sunny day, their hunger paralyzing them. In the middle of Nami’s scoldings, a pterodactyl strikes, smashing the men’s dinghies in half. Zoro and Luffy prepare to fight, but are immediately overwhelmed and dragged away in the flood; while a frightened Luffy pulls Zoro further and deeper under, the monster sweeps Nami off.
2. Strong World Episode 0
Marine Headquarters in Marineford are alerted to a fight between Gold Lion Shiki and Gold Roger. After hearing this news, Vice Admiral Garp storms Admiral Sengoku’s ship in spite of Sengoku’s displeasure, leaving the current Fleet Admiral behind.
3. Romance Dawn Story
The Straw Hat Pirates went without food. Luffy was then sent out on a Mini-Merry, which ended up becoming lost and drifting away from its intended destination. Luffy sets off on a journey to find food for himself and his crew after arriving at a new island. When he meets Silk, a female from Crescent Moon Gally’s crew, he is mistaken for a pirate. When Luffy bound Gally to his ship, he threatened Silk’s village, and he promised to assist her beat him, hence she accepted.
4. Glorious Island Part 1 & 2
In the short, the crew of the Sunny are messing around, which leads to a party. As a result, they find Z in the sea.
5. One Piece Film: Gold Episode 0
The Straw Hat Pirates eat BBQ on the Thousand Sunny. Luffy is the one who is having the most fun. While Luffy is trying to have more meat until it’s done, Nami, Chopper, Franky, and Robin are playing volleyball. At the end of the game, Chopper and Nami win because Robin did something wrong and also used her powers. When the game is over, Robin gives Nami the golden coin.
Specials
1. One Piece TV Special: Adventure in the Ocean’s Navel
The Straw Hat Pirates find a huge hole in the ocean. At the bottom of the hole is an island called the “Ocean’s Navel,” which nobody knows much about. The Straw Hat Pirates are determined to find what they’re looking for: the island’s treasure, which is said to be able to grant any wish. However, the island’s people have other plans for their new visitors.
2. Episode of East Blue: Luffy and His 4 Crewmates’ Big Adventure
As the Straw Hat Pirates get ready to go and leave East Blue and join the Grand Line, they each think back on their journeys up to that point and reaffirm their goals.
3. Episode of Sky Island
This special will just retell the things that happened in the Skyland Saga.
4. 3D2Y
This special occurs during the two-year break before the Straw Hats get back together on Sabaody. Luffy is in Rusukaina right now, getting stronger so he can start taking on a new world. Hancock’s siblings, Sandersonia and Marigold, are taken by Byrnndi World, the pirate who has been locked up on the 6th level of the Impel Down and yet got out when Blackbeard broke into the prison. He wants to get Hancock to come to him so he can use her as a hostage against the World Government because she is a Shichibukai. So, Luffy and Hancock go after him to save Hancock’s sisters and get him to talk.
5. Episode of Nami: Tears of a Navigator and the Bonds of Friends
This special is a shortened form of the Arlong Arc, so it has the same basic plot. After the Baratie Arc, Nami tends to leave the crew to return to her town. Luffy and his crew follow her and find out that she works for a threatening Fish-Man pirate called Arlong. It tends to turn out that Arlong murdered Nami’s mother and has been taking advantage of her amazing cartography and piloting skills again for the past decade.
The only way should be for Nami to pay him, which she does by trying to steal from pirates. As Luffy tries to find out, he as well as the crew beat Arlong to prove that Nami relates to them. Then, they set a course to investigate the entirety of the sea.
6. Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend
During a break in their journey, the Straw Hats have been milling around at Thousand Sunny. Inside the Mini Merry II, Usopp, Brook, and Chopper go out into the ocean to see what’s there. Brook asks about Merry, seeing as he joined the crew after they got Sunny. Komei then catches them and tells them that he’s still a Vice Admiral in the Marines but went undercover to kill the Straw Hats. Dojaku, who is a Marine, tends to help the Sexy Foxy get the cage. The Straw Hats are able to bring Luffy back to life and set him free, but Dojaku and Komei take Zoro, Porche, Sanji, and Hamburg and run away. But they leave an Eternal Pose behind.
9. Episode of Sabo: The Three Brothers’ Bond – The Miraculous Reunion and the Inherited Will
Sabo shows up at Ace’s grave with just a newspaper about the Straw Hat Pirates’ return. He pours three cups of sake and talks to Ace about when he was a child in the Goa Kingdom with Ace and Luffy. They all wanted to be pirates and then became brothers by drinking sake together. In a story of the Marineford, Luffy saves Ace from being killed for a short time, but he fails when Akainu kills him in battle. Sabo tells Ace he’s sorry he couldn’t save him and promises to take over his will.
10. Heart of Gold
The World Government as well as a guy called Mad Treasure are both looking for Myskina Olga. She’s the only person who knows where the Pure with teith gold is, which can buy the whole world. Olga tends to end up cruising with the Straw Hat Pirates, and they go on a trip to discover the Pure Gold just on the lost island of the Alchemi and inside the stomach of a big anglerfish named Bonbori. Luffy and Olga get isolated from the rest of the group, and Olga tells Luffy how she was able to live 200 years and is angry at her dad for trying to make the Pure Gold that killed their mother and made Bonbori eat them.
Final Notes
We all know that One Piece is not an anime you can finish watching in just one sitting, or even two or three sittings. But, the thrill upon watching it as you also attempt to follow their journey in finding Pirate King Gol D. Roger’s treasure is creating another reason for us to really take our time watching this over-a-thousand-episode anime.
