All Tokyo Revengers Characters

COMPLETE Tokyo Revengers Characters List (OFFICIAL!)

Updated May 15, 2024 by testing

Tokyo Revengers is currently one of the most hyped anime. There are some good reasons behind it too. The story, artwork, animation, protagonist, and other characters are like the shining armor of the anime. The genre of the anime is a bit confusing. But we can call it an isekai-shonen mixed action genre.

The author of the manga, Ken Wakui, confirmed that the series has entered its final arc. Although the manga first came to readers in 2017, the anime adaptation had to wait till 2020. There is also a live-action movie and stage play drama of the show.

As there are many gangs, there are some gang members to know in the show. This article will be helpful for you to remember the gang members and their identity for the later parts of the show. As the anime did not yet reach the manga’s pace, people who loved the show are trying to go for the manga.

To avoid such character confusion and get a better overview of the characters I created the list with as many details as I could gather.

Tokyo Revengers Plot

Tokyo Revengers

The story is about a boy who dies or experiences feelings near death and gets into the past where he can either change the present or keep things as they are. The opening and ending are so soothing and the soundtracks are so good that there should be an album with only Tokyo Revengers songs.

The protagonist of the show, Takemichi Hanagaki, had a wonderful school life but as he grew up, his life became messier. He was living a life full of despair until the moment a train took his life. He got back to his middle school year where he had his girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, with him. As the protagonist goes back to the past, he meets his old friends and gang members again. There are quite a handful of gangs and members. The gangs and gang wars help the MC to develop a better backstory and well-developed character.

Emma as a character is fully romantic and silly. She behaves weirdly around her childhood crush, Ken Ryuguji, a.k.a. Draken. She also goes to some level where it’s morally abnormal just to get Draken’s attention.

Masataka uses people shamelessly and has no self-respect. He gets into fights with those who can’t compete against him and uses them. He uses any possible means to defeat his opponents. He is seen using both a baseball bat and a knife in a fistfight.

Souya Kawata

Angry Souya Kawata

Takemichi Hanagaki is the protagonist of the show. A well-written character with vast character in-depth details and with a solid backstory. Takemichi is living a miserable life in the present and while waiting for a train, he was pushed on the tracks. He survived and realized he could travel between timelines.

Takemichi was a person who has lost his sense of direction in life. He had low self-esteem and zero confidence in himself. He could only say sorry rather than becoming a better person or becoming better at something. The worst part is he was not regretting it, rather accepting the sad life he had.

He travels between times without understanding for the first time and decides to change the future of himself and the fate of his middle school girlfriend Hinata Tachibana. He also decided to make sure he has good friends around him. This made him take big steps into his life and turn everything around.

Takemichi is very loyal to his friends. He is also protective of those who he’s close to. He will protect others from the frontlines, even if it means dying. His sudden change of willpower turned him into a charismatic person. Thus, wherever he goes, he influences others.

In fights, Takemichi would rather die than cower out. Some may think this is utter foolishness. But he keeps fighting and finds some way to beat his opponents. This motivates all his fellow gang members and even other gangs. His leadership qualities are astounding. (Manga Chapters: 1-33)

Takuya Yamamoto

Takuya Yamamoto

  • Tokyo Manji Gang

Takuya Yamamoto is one of Takemichi’s friends. He is of average middle-schooler height with long shiny hair. He is weak-hearted and scared most of the time during Takemichi’s gang life. Even though he is scared, he goes beyond his capacities for his friends in danger.

The name Takuya signifies “grow, open, support” (taku) and “to be, moreover” (ya). Takuya’s family name Yamamoto signifies “mountain, slope”  (yama) and “base, root, beginning” (moto).

When it comes to fighting, Takuya is one of the worst fighters. He can’t take  punches or kicks. His deficiency in fighting skills is not a way to describe him. The fact that he is brave and won’t leave any friend behind should define him. (Manga Chapters: 1)

Tetta Kisaki

Tetta Kisaki

  • Tokyo Manji Gang (Former)

He also thinks of things as long-term and permanent. He never settles down for a temporary solution for any problem. (Manga Chapters: 35-38, 45-48)

His manipulation techniques are beyond every character of the show. He can turn his enemies into his allies, bending their wills to benefit his own. He even manipulates Manjiro Sano to the extent where he won’t be able to come back to normal ever again. (Manga Chapters: 50, 51, 56, 59-61, 65, 68-75, 77)

Kisaki had an abnormal childhood and the fact that he was completely lonely, made him insecure about himself and a very introverted person. Ultimately, he started destroying anything or anyone that is better than him. Because of that complexity, he never had any friends. (Manga Chapters: 82, 83, 86-92, 94, 95, 103, 104, 110-113)

Kisaki became successful in gang wars without being anywhere near a strong fighting individual. He knew he could be successful by pulling the strings from far behind even if it meant waiting a long time. (Manga Chapters: 121, 123, 125-128, 130-134, 136, 138, 141, 143, 144, 146-149)

The person Terano is today is because of his vicious childhood. For a hot-headed killer like him, he has a very unusual music taste. It appears he has a liking for classical music like a piano. Overall, his nickname “unparalleled” matches his character as he is one of the strongest in face-to-face battles. (Manga Chapters: 107, 207, 208, 210-214)

Conclusion

Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers is a show with a vast package of interesting main characters, supporting characters, main villains, and supporting villains. These characters not only take you to a deep understanding of the show but also help you understand why the characters of the show are as they are presented.

Stories about time travel often do not get understood by people as they don’t understand the connections and often writers are unable to express themselves easily. But this mixture of a gang, time-travel, and romance is seemingly going very well. The characters are easy to remember and there are very few interconnections between the characters.

Everything about the appearances of the characters is solid. Because most of the gang members of the time period are maintained quite well in the show. The hairstyles and dress-ups are similar to history and unique for each character as well.

As more chapters are released every week, we get to know more about some characters and we might learn about new characters. Whatever the circumstances, every character in the show is enjoyable and plays a role for a reason. Maybe in the ending, everything every character did will add up.
