In the world of anime, an OP main character can never cease to exist. Just when we thought nothing could ever get the best of them, our best friend ‘love’ enters, ready to sweep everyone, including our OP MC off their feet. 12. Miyuki to Tatsuya (The Irregular At Magic High School)

The story revolves around the Shiba siblings – Tatsuya and Miyuki. They enlist in First High School, which divides its students into groups according to their magical prowess. Tatsuya is enrolled in the second course and is regarded as being magically incompetent, while Miyuki is enrolled in the first course and is one of the top students. Beautiful and the standard of coolness, you might think Miyuki has her eyes on someone the likes of her. But wait, there is a catch! Miyuki has romantic feelings for someone who is also as engaging… and it is no other than her brother *gasps*!

11. Ayanokoji to Kei (Classroom of Elite)

The narrative is told from the viewpoint of Kiyotaka Ayanokji, a shy and reserved youngster with unmatched intelligence who prefers to keep to himself and is not excellent at making acquaintances (speaking of unmatched IQ, here’s a list of other genius MCs!). He attends Class-D, the school’s drop-off class for underachieving children. Ayanokoji’s love interest is not yet revealed in the anime as it is currently ongoing. One thing is for sure, watch out for Kei, you are in for a wild ride. 

10. Layfon to Felli (Chrome Shelled Regios)

Layfon Alseif is trying to start a fresh life and let his past go in the Academy City of Zuellni. Yet, Karian Loss and Nina Antalk both immediately identify his abilities as a fitting person to be in the squad, having taken notice of his background. Layfon, though, might not be the best fit because of his mysterious skills and troubled past. Of course, one cannot escape the grasp of love, even the hot and mighty Layfon as he falls for Felli, his friend and senior.

9. Yagami to Tsui Ling (Kaze No Stigma)

The family’s eldest child and presumed heir was Kazuma Kannagi. Unfortunately, his family regarded him as useless because he lacked the capacity to employ “Enjutsu”, the ability to control flames. It is eventually revealed that since Kazuma was exiled from his family, obtaining tremendous power was his only aspiration. He went to a little Chinese town and started all kinds of mischief there. That is before he encountered Tsui Ling, with whom he immediately fell in love and later moved in with. Sadly, Erwin Leszaar, the leader of the Armagest, sacrificed her in order to call a demon.

8. Yuu to Nao (Charlotte)

Yuu Otosaka, the main character, discovers he has the power to briefly inhabit someone for five seconds. He intended to fake his way through high school, but Nao Tomori, a girl with the ability to become invisible, surprisingly uncovers him. He is coerced into transferring to Hoshinoumi, where she is the president of the student council. The major goal of the student council is to protect people with abilities against organizations that want to abuse those abilities. By doing this, the student council alerts those who are employing their abilities to the potential risks involved in doing so. Cunning, brave, and beautiful in her own way, we are not the only ones who like Nao, but our OP MC as well!

7. Hiyori to Yato (Noragami)

Hiyori Iki’s soul begins to often leave her body as a result of a bus accident, and she learns that there are two parallel worlds: the Near Shore, which is home to creatures and regular humans; and the Far Shore, which is where demons and human souls dwell. Together with Yato and his Regalia, Yukine, the group engages in several adventures while battling issues related to their friendship, personas, and backstories. It is refreshing when Hiyori finally realizes her feelings for Yato (which took her long enough). Thankfully, the latter likes her too! 

6. Tatsumi to Mine (Akame ga Kill)

The main character of the story is Tatsumi, a young villager who goes to the capital to gather money for his house only to find that there is a lot of corruption there. The young man is enlisted by the assassin group Night Raid to aid them in their struggle against the oppressive Empire. Talk about #squadgoals. Is the relationship between Mine and Tatsumi one of those goals? Probably. Let us just forget what happened to Mine to make this a beautiful memory in our minds. 

5. Shana to Yuji Sakai (Shakugan No Shana) 

Yuji Sakai is a high school student who unintentionally gets entangled in a long-running war between existing forces of balance and imbalance. During this time, he befriends “Shana,” a member of the balancing force. Warriors known as Flame Hazes tirelessly battle these beasts in an ambitious effort to put a stop to these unseen, ravenous monsters. Aloof and anti-social as Shana may seem, little does she know that she is bound to go head over heels for Yuji Sakai, which she acknowledges several times after the conclusion of season one.

4. Akihito to Mirai (Kyoukai No Kanata)

Akihito Kanbara, a high school student, reacts immediately to prevent Mirai Kuriyama from committing suicide one day. As a result of Akihito’s pleading, Mirai unexpectedly stabs him with a sword made of her own blood. She is astonished to learn that Akihito is an eternal “half-youmu” – the progeny of a supernatural being known as a youmu and a human. Their lives become entwined as Akihito tries to give Mirai the confidence to kill youmu so that she may stop trying to murder him as practice. Afterwards, he learns that she is a Spirit World Warrior, experts who prevent humans from being touched by youmu, and the sole surviving member of her clan. But the two seemed to have unspoken side tasks *coughs*, as both developed feelings for each other. 

3. Naruto to Hinata (Naruto)

Now, who does not know about the well-known star of all seasons, Naruto Uzamaki? It is a spiral wave of adventure involving hokage, love, tailed beasts, and war that is surely impossible to erase in our minds, and yes, you read it right! It involves love, primarily with the ever gentle, kind, and sweet Hinata Hyuga (one of the best waifu in the series, for sure!) . They even got married (aww, sweet)!

2. Naomi to Ruri (Hello World)

We are all suckers for the MC-going-back-to-the-past-to-risk-it-all trope. In the film Hello World, a man from the year 2027 goes back in time to his school days in order to undo a terrible choice. Watch as Naomi turns into a knight in shining armor with his hand of glory just to be with Ruri. Do not forget to bring your tissues!

1. Tenma to Karasuma (School Rumble)

School Rumble falls under the romantic comedy genre and focuses on the story of friendship and love with a touch of drama involving Japanese high school students Tenma Tsukamoto , Oji Karasuma, and Kenji Harima. Despite being depicted as physically strong, Tenma melts when the topic is Karasuma. No one can blame her as we melt together with her.
