I believe you guys like the Isekai genre, right? Well! That’s probably why you were looking for this list. Some of you may be new to Anime, so I think I should just explain the Isekai genre a bit.
In the Isekai genre, we basically follow stories of teenagers who get teleported to another world. They are either summoned by a ritual or by death in their own world. Even if you are new to anime, you must’ve heard the name Sword Art Online, right? It is one of the most popular Isekai anime out there and will probably feature on this list.
Now, getting back to the topic. This list is about Isekai anime with a gaming setup. Like you can gain skills and points. You can even choose the type of magic you want. Most of the Isekai MC’s are OP from the beginning tho, lol!
Let’s just start the list.
Anime where MC is Transported to a Video Game (Recommendations)

The concept of this anime is kinda new. It follows the story of a teenage boy named Yuusuke Yotsuka. Yuusuke is the type of guy who hates everyone around him, especially the people of Tokyo. One day, Yuusuke sees a famous athlete Iu Shindou and Kusue Hakozaki, his classmate, talking to each other.
He just ignored them and the very next moment, he was falling from the sky and everything around him was changing.
As he fell down, he got to know that Shindou and Hakozaki had brought him inside a game. Ehhhh! Wth. He is surrounded by monsters and evil creatures.
One interesting fact about this gaming setup is that you get revived within 30 seconds if you die, if one of your guild members is still alive. Well! This is kinda reassuring. Now, the question here is, What is this game? Can they get back to their world? Hmm! The answer lies in the anime, lol!

Ouffff! Now that’s a long name. Well! I’ve learned a thing after all these years of watching anime and reading manga. Anime/Manga that have long names are usually good. However, most Isekai anime have long titles, so are they all good? Hmm! That depends on your personal preference, no? Duh!
This anime follows the story of a teenage girl named Kaede Honjou. Kaede is an ordinary girl. However, her world changes as she decides to play a VR game known as New World Online. At first, Kaede didn’t know how to play, so she decided to put all her points on defence only, lol!
Now, her defence was top-notch, but other skills were lacking. Despite all this, she ranked 3rd in a world wide event. This earned her the title of Invincible.
This anime isn’t just about some overpowered teenage girl. Kaede also learned a lot and made new friends. Comedy in this anime is also top-notch. Sooo, it’s a must try.

Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody is also a Parody anime like Konosuba. This anime follows the story of a Game Programmer named Ichirou Suzuki. Ichirou works so hard that he doesn’t get any sleep. One day, as he got free, he decided to get some rest.
However, when he wakes up, he finds out that he has been teleported inside a game world. And that game world is a mixture of the games that he had made, himself. The first thing he experiences in this new world is an attack from Lizardmen. He unconsciously used a powerful spell and wiped them out in an instant.
Despite his power, he had no way to leave this game world. So, he decides to discover this exciting fantasy world. The animation and art of this anime is just amazing. The comedy is also pretty darn good. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

Rising of the Shield Hero is one of the most popular anime of 2019. 2019 really gave us some great anime like Demon Slayer, Vinland Saga, and ofc Rising of the Shield Hero.
This anime follows the story of a college student named Naofumi. Well! Naofumi is a shut-in NEET who plays games all day. One day, Naofumi decides to go to a library, where he gets reincarnated to another world as the Shield Hero. Sounds great, right?
However, little did he know that the people there despised the Shield Hero for unknown reasons. They banished him from the Kingdom by placing false charges on him. Ey! This sucks.
But, as the story progresses, Naofumi finds the right people to support him. Ohh! I forgot to mention, 3 other heroes were also summoned along with him. The purpose of these Heroes is to fight off Waves. What are waves? I won’t tell you, lol! Just don’t break your screen while watching the first episode, huihuihui!

Sword Art Online is one of the most popular anime out there. Although some anime fans don’t like it and call it too childish. Still, it is one of the best anime in this genre.
It follows the story of a teenage boy named Kazuto Kirigaya AKA Kirito. The story begins as Kirigaya decides to play this new VR game known as Sword Art Online (SAO). The developers had introduced new technology to provide a better experience. However, because of this new upgrade, everything changes as Kirigaya and other players find out that they cannot log out from the game.
The developer of the game had trapped them inside the game. What’s more interesting is that if they die in the game, they die in the real world. The developer also gives them a condition, if they want to leave.
This is the worst scenario, right? And that condition is to complete all 100 levels. Kirigaya, along with other players, decides to take up this challenge. What difficulties lie ahead for him? I’m sure you’re curious. For that you have to watch the anime.

Re:Zero is my personal favourite on this list. It follows the story of a guy named Subaru Natsuki. Subaru is your typical Shut-In NEET, who does nothing but play games all day long. One day, he decides to go outside and get some fresh air. And that’s when he got teleported to another world.
At first, he was a bit shocked, but his experience as a NEET helped him and he quickly grasped the situation. In this new world, he helped a girl named Emilia and immediately fell in love with her. AWWWW!
But, wait! There are some troubles. First of all, Subaru does not have any superhuman powers or skills. However, he has a special skill known as Relive, Ig. This skill allows him to relive his life from a certain checkpoint in case he dies. And believe me the pain this guy goes through is unexplainable.
The only main gaming point in this Isekai is the phenomenon of Relive. Like in games when your character dies, you can play again from a certain point. It also has that “skills system” though. Rem Should’ve Won!!!!!
5. Overlord

Another pretty famous anime on this list. There are surely a lot of famous anime on this amazing list.
Overlord follows the story of a guy named Momonga. Momonga loves playing VR games and that too as an evil wizard, Ainz Ooal Gown. However, there are some troubles with the game. The game was going to shut down and Momonga decided to play it for the one last time. As all the servers shut down, he thought that he would be logged out from the game.
But, much to his surprise, he could still play the game. Now, that’s something amazing, right? Even the NPC’s (nonplayer characters) started to develop their own personas, lol! He came up with the thought that it was his time to take over this virtual world.
Tha animation of this anime is just too amazing, and don’t worry, it has over 4 seasons. Sooo, you won’t get bored for a while.
4. Konosuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World

I have a question for you guys. Do you guys know about Parody Anime? No? Well! I guess I should tell you guys about them. Parody anime are basically those anime that mock the original genre. For example One Punch Man. OPM mocks the typical shounen genre. It does not involve any generic power ups and power of friendships.
Getting back to the main topic. Konosuba follows the story of a Shut-In NEET, Kazuma. Well, the way Kazuma dies and gets reincarnated is just too amazing to begin with. As he gets reincarnated, he brings the Goddess, Aqua, with him into the new world. In most of the Isekai anime, the MC gets a huge power boost and is surrounded by a lot of girls. But, In Konosuba, it is the exact opposite.
Now, I don’t want to further spoil this gem for you. You better watch it yourself. I’m pretty sure you’ll die of laughter.

This one was bound to make this list. Like it’s just soo cute. I’ll tell you a thing about myself. I really love wholesome anime. I guess all of us do.
Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear follows the story of a teenager named Yuna. Yuna is a fifteen year old Shut-In NEET who plays a VR game all day long. She got so good at it that she even received a Bear Suit from the game developers. Lol! Why a bear suit? Well! Wearing the bear suit gives her special skills in the game.
But, there is an issue. While wearing the bear suit, she got teleported inside the game and couldn’t leave. I knew there was something wrong with the suit. Now, what will she do? Hmmm! IDK, lmaoo! Anyways, I personally recommend this anime to you guys. So, be sure to give it a watch.

42/50 |
Log Horizon is one of the most popular anime out there. This anime first aired in 2013 and has 3 seasons so far.
The story of Log Horizon might seem a bit like Sword Art Online. How? You ask. Just like in Sword Art Online, In Log Horizon, gamers get trapped inside a popular game and they can’t get out. However, there are some differences.
First of all, the name of the game in Log Horizon is Elder Tale. Secondly, the MC of this show decides to build a nation in order to help others. Unlike other players, the MC Shiroe quickly regained his composure after this event. He made new rules so that weaker players can also survive the game as strong players went rogue and started killing other players. Other players also join him in this journey.
I really like the concept of this anime. The animation and storyline is just amazing. I’m pretty sure you’ll also enjoy it.

Ahhhh! Now this anime is something else. It only has 1 season and I bet that after watching it you’ll want a second one like other fans. However, there has been no news of a second season for this anime.
No Game No Life follows the story of two siblings, Shiro and Sora. Both of them are Shut-In NEETs who play games all day long. And they are pretty famous as well. However, their life changes as they receive an email challenging them to a chess match.
Both of them got sucked into a world known as Disboard. And there is a God as well, The God of Games Tet. In this world, all the disputes between countries and nations are solved by games. Wow,that’s cool!!!
Now, Sora and Shiro decide to defeat the God of Games and unite all the nations of this world. Can this legendary Duo do so? Hmm! For this you have to watch the anime.
Conclusion

Well! This list wasn’t that long. I tried my best to provide you with the best Gaming Anime. I hope you’ll like it. This genre is gaining a lot of popularity these days. Authors are trying their best to come up with new ideas.
Anddd the rankings are based on my personal preferences. All of these are great anime.
