Manhwa has been a great hit especially in South Korea. Relevant to that, manhwa have been adapted both in animation and Korean dramas. But let’s talk about Korean animation, typically called aeni. Y’all really thought the general name for animated movies/series is anime, huh? Well surprise, surprise because it depends on WHERE it was produced.Â
For this list, I’ll be presenting you with a list of manhwa that have become so popular world-wide that even Japanese studios have adapted them into anime.
This may include  manhwas that aren’t familiar to you or anime that all this time you’ve thought was from a manga. Okay, without further ado, here I present to you 13 manhwa that have anime adaptations.
MANHWA THAT ARE TOO GOOD AND GETTING ADAPTED INTO AN ANIME (RECOMMENDATIONS)
13. She is a Vampire!
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 15/20 | 6/10 | 7/10 | 6/20 | 34/50 |
This may appear like a typical rom-com novel you see online, but this is somehow different because this manhwa does not actually involve a romantic relationship between two or more people. Well, I don’t know if you can call a human and a young vampire relationship a romantic one.
Their story actually began when a girl asked for the blood of a boy. Well, as a veeeery normal reaction, the boy was immediately weirded out.. Like, the world is already modern and who on earth would politely ask for blood just because she’s hungry. I mean, she’s not even polite tho. And I don’t know about that boy who pulled his arm out of his jacket just to give that vampire a drink of his blood. Needles are already scary; so being afraid of vampires’ teeth is an excuse to go home and not entertain any vampire in the streets… unless they’re hot. Just kidding HAHA
I know that this anime adapted manhwa will not only make you blow air out of your nostrils, but will also make you laugh so hard that you won’t even be able to breathe.
12. Mystic Pop-up Bar
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 15/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 36/50 |
Check out this anime based on a manhwa if you want to forget about the bad times for a while. People here are getting tired of their everyday tasks and their hard and tiring days, but everything changed when they discovered the Mystic Pop-Up Bar.
The owner of Mystic Pop-up Bar, Wolju, helps customers by serving tasty food and drinks, but there’s more to that than meets the eye. It’s quite rare because, for most bars, the owner does not usually serve drinks… I mean, I don’t have much experience with bars, but I think owners do not usually serve.
Every night, the owner of this bar uses her magical powers to heal a person in an unknown dream world. Enjoy a world where you don’t have to worry about anything.
11. When I Woke Up, I Became a Bagel Girl
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 16/20 | 6/10 | 7/10 | 6/10 | 35/50 |
Is there a time that you have been through something so strange that you didn’t know what to do? If you like plots like this, this drama-filled anime version of manhwa is really for you. That something strange begins with Bong Gi, a lovely guy who plans to do more with his life. He’s unmotivated, saggy, and doesn’t have a job. He plays video games to get away from real life.
His lonely life and the fact that he didn’t have a girlfriend really made him think crazy about girls. Bong Gi dreams about the girl he saw on the internet and wants to meet her. After playing games for a long time, he was then woken up to see that he had turned into a woman he had met online.
He had no idea what to do, so he looked for answers on the Internet. There, he met Sae Mi, who gave him advice about what to do. When he makes a decision to get back at his bully at school, Sang Woo, who turns out to have been Sae Mi’s older brother, things go wrong. Can he get the revenge he wants? Even more importantly, can he go back to being himself?
10. Blade of the Phantom Master
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 16/20 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 6/10 | 37/50 |
Have you heard of the manga entitled Blade of the Immortal? Upon reading the title of this next manhwa on our list, memories of me reading that iconic manhwa came rushing back.Â
Other than the fact that Blade of the Phantom Master and Blade of the Immortal both have quite and almost similar titles, they both also have some action and awesome swordplay. But, sad for you, I can’t tell you any further about Blade of the Immortal because this blog is about Blade of the Phantom Master.
As everything that happens is just a lucky break, no person should ever think that such a miracle will happen again. After the very old kingdom of “Jyushin” has been destroyed, the only avant-garde covert agent still alive, “Munsu,” travels the world to find evil and punish it. The odds of really having justice against evil are quite low in this case, but not zero. What do you think?
9. Freezing
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 16/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 39/50 |
Even though Freezing may not have been the brightest or most intriguing show to watch, anime fans will still enjoy it enough to watch all seasons. But unlike other anime adapted manhwa on this list, the anime adaptation of this manhwa, though it is originally a manhwa, is based on a real manga, which makes it a nice change of pace that is both new and familiar.Â
“Nova” are threats from other dimensions that are attacking Earth. Only Pandora, a girl with specialized implants that give them extra physical abilities, can fight back and defend the planet. Genetics is a military school that helps prepare the Pandora. They usually choose younger boys to help them in their fights. Bridgette, the head of her class, is called “untouchable” by her classmates, and doesn’t let anyone get close to her. That is, until Kazuya Aoi, a new student, tumbles into her chest one day.
Most people might question the accuracy of this entry because of this, but both the author and the illustrator of Freezing have worked in the same industry before. This is probably why there are so many manhwa fans who recommend this show to anime fans who want to see good manga turned into anime.
8. Black God
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 16/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 39/50 |
Do you want to read and watch some amazing martial arts? High order skills that are being performed properly are really something we should expect in this entry!Â
Keita Ibuki, a master pickpocket and game programmer, is on his way home from a night out when he stops at this noodle stand to get some ramen. But instead of eating his soup, he gives it to a crazy girl who, unknown to Keita, is the protector of coexistence equilibrium. I know this may sound funny, but stealing and feeding someone… sounds like a typical politician behavior. The only difference is that Keita is just a game programmer, not a presidential aspirant.
When Keita’s new friend got attacked, he also got caught in the middle of the fighting and ended up losing an arm. When Keita woke up from his shock, he was in his apartment with his arm still attached. But, I am sure that it is not his. Whose arm do you think it is?!
7. Ragnarok
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 40/50 |
This action-adventure manhwa turned anime could really make you give a damn about its characters and get involved in their lives. If you like to go places and fight bad guys, this one really is for you.
Yufa and Roan are both good with swords, and they have to fight a big, bad monster. It seems like what Ragnarok really is, a fight to really stop the inevitable end of our world. As our main characters move from the highlands to the depths of the underworld to get to where they are supposed to be, the group is sure to keep getting bigger with skilled adventurers.
What’s in store for this band is a despicable act that they must face. Can Yufa and Roan get through the dangerous and magical path? Can good win out over bad?
6. Tower of God
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 16/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 40/50 |
This manhwa is not even near the Tower of Babel. I mean, they’re both Towers of God, but their stories aren’t even that close. This Tower of God is mainly all about fame, glory, and power. Once you hit the peak of this tower, you’ll be granted anything you you could ever want or do anything you can imagine… yeahh, like a god.
Those who are lucky and get picked by the tower climb every floor in pursuit of making their dreams come true, but they have to pass tests that may or may not cost them their lives. Buuut, there are also people who can enter the tower just fine without being picked, and they’re called irregulars.Â
These “irregulars” have been feared by many because they are said to bring chaos and change wherever they go. Twenty-Fifth Baam happens to be one of those irregulars. He started climbing the Tower of God for the sole purpose of findinv his friend back, Rachel, but he soon learns that this dangerous path might bring him to the path of fierce rivals, untrusted competitors, and scary monsters, and he might never make it. Do you think a miracle will happen this time?
5. Strangers From Hell
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 41/50 |
If you’re afraid of the dark, then this manhwa is more than enough to scare you. This is not recommended for you. Scary, creepy stories, and psychological thrillers.  If you dig that and also want to experience how frightening hell is, then I highly recommend this one!
Yoon Jongwoo is a boy who gets a job in Seoul. In the story, he moves there. So, like most young people, he stays in a cheap room with other people at Goshiwon till he saves up some money.
Even if it seems evident that other people are staying in their own rooms, what helps make this anime intriguing and interesting is that these people are very strange and suspicious. Some of them might even be serial killers who use this cheap room to hide. Well, they really are strangers from hell. This anime helps you to think like Yoon Jongwoo by messing with your mind. Do you think Yoon Jongwoo can get out of this place? Will his roommates make him feel bad?
4. Sweet Home
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 41/50 |
Do you enjoy watching gore zombie and apocalyptic themed movies? If you do, then this next anime adapted manhwa really is something you could surely enjoy.
Cha Hyun is in high school and likes to play video games a lot. But after his parents’ car crash, the kid has to face the real world. Because he didn’t have enough money and liked to be alone, he had to move. You can really feel the struggles he is facing and the things he is about to face.Â
But when the people around him turned into monsters, all of these things became less important. He is turning into a monster because of a strange voice in his head. Young Hyun must now face the chaos of the end of the world and stay alive in this scary place without losing himself. Can Cha Hyun live in this world with no hop?
3. God of High School
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 9/10 | 8/10 | 42/50 |
Are you a fan of gods and goddesses? Culture is way too complex that they are able to create an infinite list of gods and goddesses. God of War Ares, Goddess of Beauty Athena, God of Medicine Asclepius and many more, but do you know the God of High School? I cannot exactly give you an assurance whether it really is Jin Mori or not tho.
Jin Mori says he is the strongest person in high school. When he is asked to take part in a tournament, “God of High School,” to find the most powerful high school student, his life changes.
He is told that any wish and desire he tends to make will come true if he wins… All of the contestants are strong and try their hardest to get what they want. When I said strong, I really meant strong… It is not an exaggeration .
What will happen to them when the tournament is over? A crazy fight between high school students who are so strong it’s hard to believe it has to start.
2. Timing
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 17/20 | 9/10 | 9/10 | 8/10 | 43/50 |
If you like movies like Final Destination, The Butterfly Effect, and movies that mess with time, this is for you. The anime movie is all about suicides that happened at a Seoul high school for some reason. Like in the “Final Destination” movies, a high school teacher named Park Ja-gi can see these disasters in his dreams, but he doesn’t believe in the magic behind his abilities.
Kim Yeong-tak has this ability to stop time, Min-hyeok can go back 10 seconds in time, while Jang Se-yun can see 10 minutes into the future. It’s really the superpower that most people want, the ability to manipulate time and fix the mistakes they made. I mean, bye, grandfather paradox.
Lucky for Mr. Park, with these abilities, he is now sure to have at least a chance again to save the high school and the students from the disaster. Just like Dr. Strange, Park also needs to team up with people. But the question right now is, can they really save the school and the students they care about?
1. Noblesse
| Anime Adaptation | Plot | Theme | Arts | Total |
| 18/20 | 9/10 | 9/10 | 9/10 | 45/50 |
Supernatural, vampires, school life, and a little bit of comedy mixed with some action really are the recipe for a good manhwa. Well, as a reader and a fan, of course, the decision to adapt this manhwa into an anime really is one of the best decisions of Production I.G so far.
Rai wakes up after being asleep for 820 years and begins his fresh and new life as a high school student in a school that was started by Frankenstein, his trustworthy servant. But soon, mysterious attackers called “Union” tries to stop him from enjoying his days at school with other people.
Without reading the manhwa or anything about its background. Most people would think that Raizel’s Frankenstein is a monster just like Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’s Monster, though the first sci-fi’s Frankenstein is not even a monster. The Frankenstein here in Noblesse really is one of the most good-looking characters in the series. You can actually either watch the anime or read the manhwa to really prove that Frankenstein really is one of the best looking characters.
Special Mention
Solo Leveling
This manhwa is not yet animated. But imagine, Solo Leveling becoming an anime. Luckily, the dreams of most manhwa readers have been confirmed. An official website has announced the anime adaptation of Solo Leveling. This manhwa has been registered with GMO Internet under the website name sololeveling-anime.net, and soon, further information on its anime adaptation will be revealed. This will give an opportunity for people who do not read this manhwa to see how Solo Leveling has some of the best art, themes, and plot.
Jinwoo Sung, an E-class hunter, is the weakest hunter among them. Everyone looks down on him, and he hardly makes a living, has no skills, and also has no other career or job opportunities.
When his group finds a secret dungeon, he is determined to take advantage of this opportunity to make his life better. But the chance he finds isn’t quite what he had thought!
Final Notes
Because of the limited number of manhwas adapted into anime, these are our most recommended ones.Â
Since, for sure, there are still more upcoming manhwa to be adapted , this list will still grow as what you should expect. But for the time being, why not binge read some completed manhwas if you’re done with all the listed entries above?
That’s it for this blog! Make sure to keep in touch with us for more anime recommendations and updates!Â
