I know you guys like overpowered MCs, right? Well! Who doesn’t? Everyone loves Saitama from One Punch Man, Rimuru from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Goku from Dragon Ball. But, all of them are mortal. I mean, they are humans. We want to talk about MCs who are literal Gods. I think you’ve already seen anime like these.

Well! This is a rather strange genre and there aren’t many anime of this kind. However, I’ve collected some of the best for you. I really hope you’ll like all of them.

14. Campione

Campione follows the story of a guy named Goudo. The matter is that Goudo accidentally killed the God of War. Accidently, lol! How do you even do that? 

After killing the God, he became a Campione. Campione is the entity that has killed a God. This news spread like fire and other Gods and Campione’s came to see him. One interesting fact here is that some of them even fell in love with him. If you’re a Man of Culture, you’re gonna love this one.

The story is a bit bland, not gonna lie here.

 

13. Kamichu!

I think all of you know that God in Japanese is written as “Kami”, right? With this in mind, you can already see that this anime has the word KAMI in its title. This line doesn’t make sense tho!!

Well! You must think that God MCs are supposed to be Overpowered. However, this is not the case with our MC, Yurie Hitotsubashi. Yurie was just an ordinary middle school student. But, one day, her life changed as she became a literal Goddess. She tells this secret to her friend, Mitsue.

Mitsue wanted to use Yurie to redevelop her families’ broken Shrine. With Mitsue helping her, Yurie has to do all the God work like curing people, attending festivals, and stuff. Along with all this, she also had to attend school.

 

12. Kamigami no Asobi

Kamigami no Asobi follows the story of a teenager named Yui Kusanagi. Yui is your normal high school student. However, one day, she finds a sword in her house and the very next moment she is teleported to another world.  

In this world, she meets Zeus. Yess! THE ZEUS. Zeus tells her the reason she was brought into this world. He wanted her to teach the Gods. Oufffff! Well! How can a high schooler teach Gods? Lol! And she has only 1 year. On top of all this, the Gods are all handsome guys. Can she do it? I’m not sure.

 

11. Kamisama Kazoku

We have quite an interesting story on our list. Kamisama Kazoku follows the story of a teenager named Samatarou. However, Samatarou is not your average teenager. He is indeed the Son of a God. His entire family lives on Earth. A God living on Earth? Why?

Well! The reason is quite simple. The father of Samatarou wants him to study humans. Their behavior, personalities, and their nature, so he can become a better God. Interesting, right?

Another interesting thing here is that Samatarou falls in love with a human girl named Kumiko. And he doesn’t want to use his powers. Can he make her fall in love with him? The art style of the anime is a bit old, but I’m sure that you’ll like it.

 

10. Spice and Wolf

Spice and Wolf follow the story of a fox Goddess named Holo. Holo lives in a small town called Pasloe. However, her real home is the northern town of Yuitsu. One day, a merchant named Lawrence passes by Pasloe and Holo asks him if he can escort her to her homeland. She even agreed to become his business partner. 

Lawrence notices that Holo has the unique ability to evaluate people and agrees. This marks the beginning of their journey as partners which will eventually turn into something even greater.

 

09. Good Luck Girl

Good Luck Girl follows the story of a girl named Ichiko Sakura. Ichiko has a unique ability, she can drain the luck of people around her and because of this, she is very lucky in every aspect of life. However, on the other hand, a Goddess named Momiji Binboda is the exact opposite of Ichiko. I mean she is literally the Goddess of Poverty.

One day, Momiji is tasked with taking away Ichiko’s unique ability before she drains everyone’s luck around her. This leads to an all-out war. What the heck is happening in this world?

Who do you think will win this war? I’ll go with Ichiko. Why? Idk lol!

 

08. Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?

This anime follows the story of a guy named Bell Cranel. Bell serves the Goddess Hestia. Ohhh! I think I should tell you about the world of Danmachi. In Danmachi, the Gods live on Earth to better understand humans and help them. They even limit their powers for this purpose.

And these Gods have some human supporters with them. Bell is also a supporter. However, Bell strives to become an adventurer and the Goddess Hestia helps him in his journey.

 

07. Kamisama Kiss

This anime follows the story of a homeless girl named Nanami Momozono. One day, Nanami helps a strange guy named Mikage and tells her about her situation. Mikage offers her a place. However, Mikage is a land God who lives in a Shrine. Seeing this, Nanami wanted to leave. 

But, a Fox Familiar named Tomoe stops her. He thinks that Mikage has sent her as his replacement and refuses to work under her. As Nanami doesn’t have a home, she decides to stay there and work as a God. After some time, Nanami and Tomoe start to develop f……..

No no no! I won’t spoil everything. Go and watch yourself. 

 

06. God of Highschool

God of Highschool is one of the most popular Manhwa of all time. It was adapted into an anime series in 2020.

It follows the story of a seemingly normal teenager named Jin Mori. Seemingly? Yess! Jin Mori might seem normal but he is indeed The Monkey God.

The story begins as Jin Mori and the other protagonists, Han Dae-Wi and Yu Mira, participate in a tournament named God of Highschool. The tournament features strong players from all over Japan. The Grand Prize was to grant any wish of the winner. However, our MC just wanted to fight strong opponents, lol!

 

05. Record of Ragnarok

How would you feel if your fate was decided by someone else without your consent? Well! This is the case with humans on Earth as the Gods decide that Humans should be killed.

However, in this chaos, a Valkyrie stood up against Gods and decided to help Humans. But, the way in which they decide things is a bit weird. It was proposed that the strongest warriors from the human race shall go up against Gods in a battle. 

Lol! How is this even fair? But wait! The humans have Valkyries on their side. Valkyries can take the form of any weapon, usually the one best suited to that particular human.

 

04. The Misfit of Demon King Academy

It follows the story of a Demon King named Anos Voldigoad. There was a war going on between humans and demons. However, the Demon King Anos Voldigoad wanted peace. So, he willingly sacrificed himself and made sure that he would be reborn in a peaceful era.

Now, when he is reborn, he discovers that there is an academy to determine the reincarnation of the Demon King. Another important thing he notices is that the identity of the Demon King had entirely changed. Even the name was something else.

However, Anos is not fazed at all and decides to regain his position. He also decides to find the culprit behind this fake identity.

 

03. Konosuba

Konosuba follows the story of a teenager named Kazuma. Kazuma is a Shut-In NEET who plays games all day long. One day, he went out to buy something and there he met his fate. Well! The way he died was just too hilarious, not gonna lie. After this, he gets reincarnated into another world. He was given an opportunity to take anything with him and he decides to take the Goddess Aqua with him.

This marks the beginning of Kazuma and Aqua’s journey. Ohhh! I forgot to mention that this anime is a parody of the Isekai genre. I bet you’re gonna love it. 

 

02. The Day I Became a God

I have a question for y’all. What would you do if you’re told that the world is going to end in 30 days? You’d be frightened, right? Some of us would like to do all the things we couldn’t do.

This anime follows the story of a Goddess named Hina Satou. Hina proclaims herself to be the Asgardian God, Odin. But, no one believes her. One day, she meets Youta Narukami and tells him that the world is going to end in 30 days. At first, Youta didn’t believe her like the others. However, after seeing Hina’s divine powers, he believes her.

Now, the main thing here is that despite being a Goddess, Hina is still a child and wants to see the world. This marks the beginning of Youta and Hina’s journey to discover new things. This anime is really wholesome and if you want a change of things, you should definitely give it a try.

Noragami follows the story of a Minor God named Yato. Yato proclaims himself to be the God of Delivery. He wishes to have many followers. However, he doesn’t have a single shrine dedicated to his name.

With this in mind, he works hard and does odd jobs for people. However, things didn’t go too smoothly and his weapon partner left him. Now, he was alone. But, everything changes as a girl named Hiyori saves him from an accident. This incident resulted in Hiyori’s soul getting loose. It means that her soul can leave her body. Ehhhh!!

This marks the beginning of Yato’s journey as he tries to find the cure for Hiyori. I promise that you won’t get bored watching this anime.

 

Conclusion

I’ve tried my very best to gather the Best anime of this particular Genre. There isn’t much anime out there with this concept. However, the ones I’ve selected for this list are the best. The rankings of these anime are based on my personal preferences. So, don’t get mad if your favorite anime didn’t make the top 5. Sayonara, take care of yourself!
