Harry Potter is one of the most legendary fantastical and adventurous stories. It made our childhood beautiful using its story and magic tricks. The story of Harry Potter is very adventurous, it tells us about Harry’s struggles with the dark wizard Voldemort, who has dedicated his life to killing Harry. 

Thinking he could kill Harry would make him immortal and give him all the powers he has ever wanted. So, the story overall is quite adventurous and thrilling. However, sometimes some questions remain unanswered.

Why Did Voldemort Want To Kill Harry Potter?

Oh yes! We’re finally at the part where we get to know what’s the connection between Harry Potter and Voldemort! So, Voldemort wanted to kill him due to a prophecy that mentioned that there will be a boy whose powers are strong enough to defeat him and eventually end his rule over the wizarding world. It was about time that Voldemort answer his crimes for being a dark wizard. 

Thus,  he was determined more than ever to find out who the boy was! Just like that, he found out that it was Lily and Jame’s son since the prophecy aligned with them.As the story progressed, Voldemort was convinced that Harry Potter was born to be his mortal enemy.

Who are Lily and James Potter?

Harry’s father was a pure-blooded child born to the parents Euphemia and Fleamont Potter. When he was sorted to Gryffindor, he made new friends who proved to be of great importance to him and those were, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. 

He didn’t really have a good relationship with Severus Snape and he often made fun of him in school too. That’s why Snape’s emotional health was affected. However, Snape still tried his best to protect Harry throughout his time at school and he did all this for Lily even when she chose James instead of him. 

Lilly Potter was born to muggle parents and was known as Lily Evans, when she discovered her own abilities, Snape told her about magic and all the fantastical aspects of the wizarding world. He also showed her some of the magic tricks! Just like that, as the story progressed, both of them became really good friends. But one day, she became the head girl and that’s when she met James. That day, their love story began. Snape had to step back and be happy with what fate brought upon him. Now, you all know where everything began and how it went wrong! 

How Harry’s Parents Got Involved With Voldemort? 

Years before Harry Potter was born, professor Trelawney was being tested for a job at Hogwarts when she delivered the prophecy in the following words. 

“The one with the powers to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches… born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives… the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies…” 

Now, this could have been any child born at the time. But he found out about Prophecy as Severus Snape was working for Voldemort and secretly spying on Dumbledore. Just as Snape started to report Voldemort, he didn’t even understand what he started. 

For Voldemort, Harry was just a half-blood and he was rigid on keeping the wizarding world free of those who are half-blooded. So, killing Harry’s parents wasn’t really necessary until an incident occurred that forced him to do so! 

Later on, Snape came to Dumbledore and offered to be truly loyal to him if Dumbeldore swore to protect them, swore to protect Lily . Snape didn’t realize the mess he got himself into, but there was a way to right his wrong,, Snape decided to be loyal to Dumbledore! 

Now, let’s find out what incident made Harry Potter’s parents die! So, Voldemort wanted to kill Harry when he was just an infant. However, a mother can’t see her child being sacrificed in front of her own eyes. That’s when she decided to sacrifice her own life for the sake of Harry Potter. By doing so, Voldemort’s curse affected him and wounded him eventually, it created a countercurse of sorts and destroyed Voldemort’s body. The entire explosion left only a small mark on Harry. 

You see, when Voldemort tried to attack Harry with one of the forbidden curses, Avada Kedavra, Harry’s mother got in the way and protected him from the curse. The killing curse was countered by magic that Voldemort did not understand. 

However, that didn’t stop Voldemort from attacking Harry again and again as the saga progressed. What is known is that Lily used her love as a protective barrier between Harry and the killing curse. Voldemort had not planned on killing Harry Potter’s parents, only until it became necessary and they were getting in his way of killing Harry. He did offer them to move away and only take their son’s life.
