WHAT IS WORLD TRIGGER?
Known generally as WorTri, World Trigger is a manga series illustrated and written by Daisuke Ashihara, who also serves as the series’ author and illustrator. It was first published in Weekly Shonen Jump between February 2013 and November 2018, after which it was relocated through Jump Square by December of the same year. At the end of December 2021, Shueisha collated all of the book’s chapters into 24 volumes. Viz Media has acquired the North American rights to the manga and will be publishing it in English.
PLOT
Four years have passed, the residents of Mikado City gradually became accustomed to some occasional conflicts with the Neighbors and have returned to their normal lives, with the exception of the odd war with the Neighbors. Border has gained in popularity. When a strange white-haired girl by the name of Yma Kuga moves to the local high school, everyone is shocked.
Border is unaware that Kuga is a powerful human-looking Neighbor—a knowledge that Kuga wishes to keep hidden from him. He meets a student, Osamu Mikumo, who turns out to be a trainee of C-class Border in disguise while at school. Because Kuga is utterly clueless to the ways of Mikado City, it is Mikumo’s responsibility to lead him through it and keep him from being found by the Border.

CHARACTERS
Osamu Mikumo
According to Yma Kuga, Osamu is a highly honest individual who has the ability to distinguish truth and lies. Osamu is a strong-willed and fearless young man who has a strong moral compass. He constantly goes to great lengths to assist people, even if it means putting himself in danger.
Jin implies that one of his motivations for entering Border is being of service to people. Osamu, on the other hand, does not feel that his acts are especially heroic or compassionate; rather, he thinks that if he indeed compromises on his principles, he would begin to flee from every circumstance, even those that are important to him.
Osamu’s attitude causes him to feel that his activities are only selfish in nature, which is incorrect. Osamu, a boy of ordinary height, with medium-length black hair plus spectacles, and he has a kind demeanor.
Osamu dresses for school with gray pants and a blue-colored suit top which are customary for Japanese students. In his spare time, when he isn’t at school or in his Trion form, he likes to wear a striped scarf and a sweater.
Yuma Kuga
Yuma has a laid-back disposition and is not well-versed in Japanese conventions due to the fact that she is from another planet (but had one Japanese father), which has resulted in her having several run-ins with tough individuals.
As a reasonable person, he advises Mikumo to avoid the niantic Battle Soldier instead of saving the pupils, since Mikumo may perish if they go too close to the Battle Soldier.
As a result of his apparent alignment with Border’s cause, he seems to be fighting against Neighbor troops. Despite his outwardly cheerful demeanor, he is truly terribly unhappy as a result of his father’s sacrifice in order to save him.
Yma is much shorter than a normal person his age. He has red eyes and white hair, and he wears glasses. It is subsequently revealed how his hair is originally black and that his body has plateaued since before becoming a teenager due to the fact that it was composed of trion, which explains why he is so short.
Chika Amatori
Chika is quiet and reserved, and she seldom expresses herself. She has relatively few friends since she chooses to keep a space between herself and other people. She feels that if the Neighbors abduct the people close to her, she will only suffer emotional consequences.
She is quite patient and serious, and she is able to focus really well, but she lacks self-confidence and does not recognize her own abilities.
After having met Yma and becoming a member of the Tamakoma Branch, she begins to open up to people and become more gregarious, as well as more confident in her own skin. She is indeed a kind-hearted individual who confesses to being scared of causing harm to other people.
When she was assigned to the Border Patrol as a C-rank agent, Chika wears the regular white C-rank uniform, but her slacks fold inside themselves as well as lighter stripes, which appears to be the norm among female agents. In addition to her outfit, she additionally has a jacket.
Yuichi Jin
Jin has a calm temperament, even in times when he is being criticized for being aggressive, for instance when he was hiding and defending a humanoid neighbor from capture.
Rice crackers are his favorite meal, and he often seems to have a bag on his hand everywhere he goes, giving some to everyone he meets, even individuals he has clashed with in the past.
However, despite the fact that he was killed by his Neighbor, he feels that not every Neighbor is fundamentally malevolent. In fact, he believes that humans as well as Neighbors can get along, and that both races are capable of living peacefully.
Jin usually seems to be a lighthearted individual, but when it comes to protecting his friends from harm, he shows a much more serious side. Even then, he prefers to hold back, expressing no desire to injure his adversaries until compelled to do so by them. He normally wears turquoise-tinted sunglasses that he ties around his neck with a string.
