Hunter X Hunter is coming back! I thought I’d start off by giving you all this good news. How’d that feel? I’m super excited for its comeback, let’s see what Hunter x Hunter has in it for us. Well, this anime has been really unique and badass due to its characters. There are quite a lot of characters with different abilities who are starting off their journeys as hunters. So, this anime starts off with the preparation of hunter exam and a lot more happens in it. We’ll talk about it in detail later. 

If you’re the type of person who values their time and wants to watch anime, you must know about the term “filler episodes”. Well, these episodes usually have the skippable parts or the backstories. So, if you want to watch Hunter X Hunter without fillers, you have come to the right place. We’re going to let you know about its filler episodes along with its different arcs. Without further ado, let’s get started! 

 

HOW TO WATCH HUNTER X HUNTER WITHOUT FILLERS? 

 

HUNTER EXAM ARC 

Episodes: 1-21

Manga Chapters: 1-28 

The first arc is the Hunter Exam Arc, where our boy is on his journey to become a hunter like his dad and meet him eventually after enduring all the hardships in the world of the hunters. During this journey, he becomes friends with many other people, for instance the snacker, aka Killua Zoldyck, then Kurapika who’s got the coolest chains, and lastly OREO. OOPS! I meant Leorio. 

Gon must endure every type of hardship in his journey if he wants to get all the important hunter licences. Oh, yes we will also be able to see Hisoka who’s constantly after Gon. He’s quite suspicious. 

 

FILLER EPISODE – EPISODE 13

In the first 21 episodes, there’s only one filler episode (episode 13) that is titled as “Letter x From x Gon” Let’s talk about what happened in this filler! We all know how Whale Island is the home of Gon, he lived with his aunt named Mito who received a letter in her mailbox. She didn’t notice it at first since she got busy doing the laundry.

The letter was opened and it was lying right next to a mug of coffee. When his aunt read the letter with his grandmother, he asked whether they’re doing well or not. Since our boy passed the third phase of the Hunter Exam, he was excited and decided to tell his aunt. Gon also mentioned that he left the island during a storm and it was hard. 

Then after some time, flashbacks start taking place from the first episode of HxH when Gon met Kurapika and Leorio. As a result, they became friends like that. 

 

ZOLDYCK FAMILY SAGA ARC

Episodes: 22-26

Manga Chapters: 39-43

We all know the royal family, aka the Zoldyck Family. There might be many mysteries behind this family. I won’t spoil it for you of course. But oof! Killua was done being a part of this family. The Zoldyck Family Saga Arc is the second arc of Hunter X Hunter. It focuses on Killua’s family and the journey of our pure boys including Kurapika, Gon, and Leorio trying to save Killua from his family of assassins. That’s absolutely right, their family is filled with assassins. 

As Gon and his friends arrive at the Republic of Padokea, they take a bus that will take them to Killua’s home’s entrance gate. During this tour, our smart boys notice that there’s something suspicious about two tourists. A guide named Coco Loo explains the background of the Zoldyck family. 

When these guys arrive at the entrance gate, Killua asks the guide to let them inside but she insists that they can’t. The mysterious tourists that we talked about earlier decide to take action and force themselves inside the gate. The gatekeeper (Zebro) says that they can’t enter inside, however, they keep on trying.

Soon, some screams were heard from the gate. Guess what was inside the gate? Well, it was nothing more than a skeleton ruffian. Zebro asked the skeleton to not “eat too much”. If you know, you know.

Anyways, after some time, the tourists got scared and the bus had taken off. Leorio, Gon, and Kurapika meet Mike (the skeleton ruffian) and also introduce themselves to Zebro. Zebro is pleased to know that Killua’s friends have come to visit him but he said that they can’t enter the gate since Mike will eat anyone who comes his way. 

Gon insists that he wants to meet his friend. That’s how Zebro took these kids through another gate, aka “The Testing Gate”. Zebro asks Gon whether he wants to befriend Mike, he says no! Mike’s scary. Well, moving on, Killua’s stuck inside the Zoldyck Family Room, where he’s tortured by his brother.

The bad thing about being filthy rich is that you have SO MANY GUARDS, just like that, Killua had so many guards making it hard for Gon and his friends to enter the Zoldyck Family Room to save his life. If you want to know what happened to Killua next, you should watch Hunter X Hunter. 

 

FILLER EPISODE (EPISODE 26) 

Episode 26 is the filler episode of Zoldyck Family Saga Arc which is titled as “Then x And x Factor” . This episode revolves around Gon writing another letter to his aunt Mito. On the Whale Island where Aunt Mito lives, a postman delivers a letter and the grandmother watches this happening. In the letter, Gon told about his achievements and how he can see Aunt Mito reading the letter as he sips on hot cocoa. Gon’s such a stalker, eh?

Gon successfully passes the Hunter Exam but he doesn’t like what happened in the final exam and the way he won. Just like that, in this filler episode, we get to see a flashback from the final battle of Gon and Hanzo. We also see the battle between Killua and his older brother who tries to brainwash him on the battlefield and says that Killua is supposed to be a killer not a hunter. I can’t see anything man, things got darker than I expected. OOF! 

 

HEAVENS ARENA ARC 

Episodes: 27-36

Manga Chapters: 44-63 

Heavens Arena Arc is the third Arc of Hunter x Hunter that tells us about the journey of our boys, Killua and Gon, making money. On this journey, they come across a guy named Wing who might be able to teach our boys about Nen! Gon and Killua arrive at Heavens Arena where their main goal is to make money and look for Hisoka so that Gon can return his badge. On their journey, they meet a kid of their age named Zushi. He’s a fighter and is quite skilled too. 

Killua got in a battle with him and he decided that he won’t try his best to win the battle. It was pretty impressive how Zushi survived his attacks and left Killua baffled. That’s a lesson for Killua, “never judge a book by its cover”. Anyways, at the end of the battle, Killua noticed something strange.

He noticed that Zushi emits a certain form of energy similar to his older brother. This energy is called Nen. Later on, Killua and Gon meet his teacher named Wing. While Zushi was in a battle, he noticed that he shouldn’t use “that ”. What’s that? It’s Nen! However, our boy, Killua defeated Zushi with a powerful punch. 

After the match, Gon congratulates Killua but Killua is still caught up in the technique used by Zushi. Then finally, Killua speaks up and asks to teach him the techniques. OOF! Let’s go! You better teach two of the most passionate students, some Nen. If you’re curious to see the effect of Nen on Killua and Gon, watch Hunter x Hunter and reach the Heavens Arena Arc! 

 

YORKNEW CITY ARC

Episodes: 37-58

Manga Chapters: 64-119

This arc is intense. You get to learn about Kurapika quite better than any other arcs in the anime. This is the fourth arc of Hunter x Hunter in which Kurapika’s clans’ scarlet eyes get stolen. In order to find those eyes, he has to get involved with the Phantom Troupe. OMG! Chrollo! Yes, it’s a troupe where Chrollo and the members of this troupe are quite strong. So, Kurapika’s on a mission to get the stolen eyes back. This arc takes place in Yorknew City and Kurapika encounters the killers of his clan as well.  Let’s see what happens further in this arc! 

This arc starts off with Gon returning to his home on Whale Island to meet Aunt Mito along with Killua. We all know how Killua and Gon love snacking, they eat and have the time of their lives. Gon, later on, shows his Hunter Licence to Aunt Mito. She was going to break it accidentally but anyways, she was proud of Gon.

Killua gets a bit envious of our boy since he has clear cut goals. On the other hand, Killua has no direction and he has no interest in running his family business. Gon, being the best friend, says that Killua could join him on his journey if he wants. Then, later on, Killua asks about Gon’s mom. He says that he never asked about his mom to his Aunt Mito since he treats Aunt Mito like his mom. 

After some time, a strange box is seen in Aunt Mito’s hands. Aunt Mito tells Gon about certain events revolving around his mother. For instance, his mother died in an accident. Imagine how painful it would have been for our boy 😭. She also said that her mom and Ging (Gon’s father) used to play a lot when they were young. When Ging left to become a hunter, he left Gon with Aunt Mito who could look after Gon.

The very next day, Gon and Killua wanted to open that strange box. They tried using Nen and voila! The box opened! Killua enters his Hunter License card inside the box and it shows a recorder in which Ging had recorded something for Gon. He asks whether Gon truly wishes to see him or not. Then we finally see Ging sitting on a high place. At the end of the recording, Ging mentions something about his mother but Gon quickly turns the recorder off. 

On the other hand, we see Kurapika having a hard time with the rich people who want high-level assistants. It turns out that a Hunter License isn’t given much value (unless it’s completed) to apply for being a bodyguard here. Since Kurapika will get his license completed, he will be able to apply.

Kurapika comes back in August and then manages to get inside the Nostrade’s Family. It’s one of the most royal families as well. The applicants for being bodyguards must go through some sort of test where they fight hooded assailants. I won’t spoil it further for you guys. Let’s pause a bit on Kurapika’s part for now. And let’s reverse back to Gon and Killua. 

Killua and Gon are planning to get into a game called Greed Island through a Hunter Website. Did you guys know that one of Killua’s brothers is actually quite smart and is willing to give them the game. But to get the game, they need a certain amount of Jenny. (money)  

This game is quite interesting and it also has very interesting characters in it. For instance, we have Biscuit. Through this arc, we get to know our main character and his father’s history on a deeper level. So, if you want to know about Gon and his dad, Ging, you should watch this arc. Biscuit knew Gon’s father as well. So, the interaction between Gon and Biscuit is very interesting. 

Kurapika, Baise, and Basho get hired as the bodyguards by none other than Dalzollene. Let’s see what happens with Kurapika being the guard of a royal family. 

 

 GREED ISLAND ARC 

Episodes: 59-75 

Manga Chapters: 120-185 

This arc is the second longest arc in Hunter x Hunter. So, you might fall asleep watching Hunter x Hunter sometimes. I remember when I watched this arc, I fell asleep like a cat while watching. I thought, I should let you guys know about that. But it’s not like it’s boring or something. It’s quite interesting because we get to know about Gon’s father’s relation with Biscuit who’s one of the strongest hunters. 

Greed Island is full of dangerous and life-threatening games. That’s right, our boys have to survive this cruel world in order to win the game. The applicants of the game will be tested for their abilities. For instance, Killua showed his electric abilities. On the other hand, we have Gon who’s able to enhance his Nen and break a wall. Killua and Gon win as a result and show off their results to Leorio who’s soon leaving for medical school. 

Just like that, our main characters progress. Killua and Gon move towards Battera’s Mansion. Gon first enters the game, he also confronts Eta who explains the rules and regulations of the game to Gon. She explains that Gon also needs to collect the hundred restricted cards. Doing that, he will be able to find Ging and some other clues related to his father. Ging surely succeeded in gamifying the hunting system. This arc is more gamified and it’s fun to watch the story proceed like that. One mission after another, isn’t it thrilling? 

Now, when Killua and Gon finally enter and make their first step in Greed Island, they feel like they’re being watched by someone. They were right, a man with a book appears who uses his power on Killua to trace him. However, our cool boy scares him off with sheer killing intent. Together, Gon and Killua decide to take part in the tournament but first they have to eat. Of course, our boys can’t function without sweets especially, Killua. (If you know, you know) 

The chef of the restaurant said that if they can eat under 30 minutes, they won’t have to pay. OMG! We all need such a chef who would offer us such stuff. Isn’t that right? Well, they accomplished their mission and ended up winning the Galgaida card. Suddenly, they hear a BOOM outside. What could this mean? Who could it have been? To find out, watch Hunter x Hunter. 

 

CHIMERA ANT ARC 

Episodes: 76-136

Manga Chapters: 186-318 

The Chimera Ant Arc is also one of the longest arcs and it mainly focuses on Gon’s journey to meet his father. Gon also comes across one of Ging’s friends named Kite. He specializes in wildlife and has saved Gon’s life. I’ll let you know about it. Since Killua and Gon used an accompanying card to meet Ging or nigg, they were transported to the Azian Continent. However, when they got there, they were attacked by people. But guess what? Kite came and saved our boys. The nigg was actually Kite. 

While Gon was on Whale Island, he was saved by Kite once from a foxbear. Since these boys became familiar with Kite, they decided to have a meal together and discuss life. Kite told a lot of stories about his past with Ging. Gon listens to Kite very carefully. A lot many incidents take place in the Chimera Ant Arc especially with Kite who lost his arm. Kite also explains the way these ants produce more ants and how the main big ant usually looks for a powerful human so that she can produce an even stronger offspring. Smart, eh? 

A lot more events take place in the Chimera Ant Arc. So many ants and insects or should I say half-human, half-insects come and destroy everything. I won’t be spoiling further for you guys because a lot more happened. So, if you’re curious to find out what happens next, watch Hunter x Hunter. The Chimera Ant Arc is surely the longest but you will get to see diversity of characters and the darkness of Hunter x Hunter. So, you must never skip this arc. You understand? 

 

13TH CHAIRMAN ELECTION ARC

Episodes: 137-148

Manga Chapters: 319-339

Since a lot happened in the Chimera Ant Arc, we remember that Gon was badly injured after his fight with Neferpitou. A huge personality might not exist anymore in the world of Hunter x Hunter. But of course, I can’t tell you since it will be like spoiling the entirery of Hunter x Hunter for you. So, let’s just bury this for now. 

As the name suggests, this is an election arc where Pariston is responsible for all the arrangements. Ging, along with other members, await his arrival. Some members of the association aren’t very happy with the fact that he’s going to be responsible for all the arrangements despite being late. Since Pariston wins the election, he’s the new chairman of Hunter Association.

WOOH! Let’s go! Can’t wait to see what happens next! In this arc, the anime finishes. So, if you want to read the manga of Hunter x Hunter, I’ve mentioned the chapter where this arc ends. Thus, you can start reading the manga and see what’s going to happen next in Hunter x Hunter so that you can brag to your noob friends who’re missing out on a lot. In fact, you will know all the spoilers. I’m just kidding though, don’t spoil any anime for anyone. It should be considered a sin! 

 

MAIN CHARACTERS 

How can we not talk about the main characters in Hunter X Hunter, when they’re amazing? All the characters in this anime have a unique aura around them and their powers are just amazing. Anyways, we’re going to talk about the personalities of some of the main characters in Hunter X Hunter. So, let’s dive in! 

 

Gon Freecss 

Gon Freecss is one of the main characters of Hunter X Hunter. He’s super friendly and determined. Just like many other MCs, our boy loves protecting others. We get to see huge character development from Gon. He literally grows into a perfect young man. He’s just on his journey to meet his dad, Ging, who left him with his aunt Mito. She took great care of Gon and I must say, she raised him very well. Gon is literally the best! 

 

Killua Zoldyck 

Next off, we have Killua Zoldyck, a kid who loves snacking. He’s so me for real. I love eating sweet stuff just like Killua. Even though he’s small yet he can kick anyone real hard. He’s quite strong and belongs to one of the most royal families of assassins. 

 

Hisoka 

Hisoka is one of the main antagonists who made the show worth-watching. I swear to god, he’s just super cool even though he does inappropriate things to our boys at times. (If you know you know) He also belongs to the Phantom Troupe. 

 

Kurapika 

Kurapika is also one of the main characters who’s also on a journey to become a hunter. He’s quite strong. Kurapika surely is more mature than Killua and Gon. So, he’s quite an understanding individual. 

 

Leorio 

Leorio or should I say Oreo? Well, he’s a medical student even though he may not look like one. He’s a tall individual who’s chill all the time. He’s quite cowardly too since at times he avoids dangerous situations. 

 

CONCLUSION
