In Mushoku Tensei: A Jobless Reincarnation, this is exactly what happens to an anonymous 34-year-old man. He was reincarnated as a small child named Rudeus after his death was caused by a truck that sent him to the otherworld. He was given excellent magic affinity and a good family when he was reincarnated with great favor from that world’s god.

Later in the series, Rudeus met Eris and Ruijerd, who joined him on his journey as adventurers. The quests that are given to them are to be finished within the deadline or else their game is over. 

Like Rudeus who came from the modern world, these young students had to adjust their lives to adventuring and even killing, if the quest requested. Aside from our protagonists being transported to an unknown realm by god-beings, this anime also shows that Yotsuya’s party desire to survive mirrors Rudeus and his group as well.

Along with the mystery plots, the fun use of magic, character jobs and a bit of humor,  I’m Standing On A Million Lives is a must watch.

A whole class has been subjected to a ‘total spell misfire’ that made them reincarnate in a new world. But while most of the class were reborn into noble families, royalties, and other influential statuses, there is one unlucky girl who was reborn as a spider monster. Seems like she got her guts and perseverance from the itsy bitsy spider who still strives to the top despite being washed out again and again. This anime is fun to watch and see what we can learn from this feisty spider that overcomes whatever challenges thrown at her.

You know who’s like that feisty spider? Rudeus, that’s who. After being transported into another realm with Eris and was defeated by an overpowered foe, Rudeus and his party strive to become stronger and wiser until they meet that person again. He became more diligent in his studying of magic and the world he was in. While figuring out his own heart and goal in life.

 

24. Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defense

And that’s what Maple did with all of her stats as she leveled up. She became one of the strongest in the game called New World Online. In fact, she was feared among all the players because of her ridiculous defense.

Her similarity with Rudeus is her might and care for her friends in the party. She treasures her party members dearly and is willing to sacrifice for the safety of her loved ones. Although unlike Mushoku Tensei where the MC was totally reborn in a new world, Bofuri is set in a Virtual Role Playing game played by Maple in the real world.

It was a normal day for JSDF Officer Youji Itami as he was going to an anime convention but suddenly everything turned into chaos when suddenly a huge portal from another world opened in Japan. Supernatural creatures and iron clad medieval warriors marched in, destroying and killing everything in their path.

Months later after the attack, Itami was tasked to lead a Reconnaissance team into the other world, now called the “Special Region.” They exchange knowledge from each other’s world as well as trades and crafts but the challenge is yet to come when rulers of both worlds overcome their fear and greed. It is up to Youji Itami and his Special Region Team to fix the two worlds and unite them into one co-existing paradise for all.

Its similarities with Mushoku Tensei is that monarchy and rulership are one of its core stories. Whoever is the head of the family or kingdom, has more power and wealth. And Rudeus was caught in the middle of his family lineage.

While Itami was confused with his own homeland and the land of his new friends in the Special Region. The bond of friendship between the characters and their morals as well are aligned. If you haven’t seen GATE, better watch it. It’s absolutely fun and lively.

 

22. No Game, No Life

Talking about Life or Death games, this next one is truly mind boggling but quite a satisfying anime. This series starts when Sora and Shiro were challenged in chess by Tet, the god of games in another world.

Sora and Shiro won and were offered to live their lives in a world that is game-centered, they accepted the offer thinking it was just a joke. Tet brought them to that world where laws or conflicts are resolved through playing games.

Sora will do anything just to protect his little sister just like Rudeus to his own and even to Eris. Together, Sora and Shiro defeat their foes through the games they play as one. One mistake or loss could mean their life will be taken away from them.

In a world where games are the governing laws, Sora and Shiro must survive and defeat all their foes to conquer the kingdoms so that in the end, they can again challenge Tet, the God of Games. Hopefully, they may gain their freedom and return to their home again and enjoy their normal life together like before.

 

21. How Not to Summon a Demon Lord

Next on our list is Takuma Sakamoto of How NOT To Summon A Demon Lord. A shut-in gamer suddenly vanished and was transported to his favorite MMORPG, Cross Reverie. The next thing he knew, he became “Diablo” the character that he was playing and was summoned by two cute young girls namely, Rem, the pantherian, and Shera, an elf.

Takuma was summoned to be the slave of the young maidens but because of Takuma’s ability called “Magic Reflection,” the spell was casted back to them and made them Takuma’s slaves instead. With his serious case of social anxiety, Takuma acted like his character in the way that he interacts with others. And that made him more intimidating and fearsome.

Along with his vast knowledge of the game and high stats, he was practically invincible. So now, with Rem and Shera, together they search for a way to undo the collars while helping them with their own personal issues which made them summon Takuma in the first place. Oh, by the way, prepare your eyes and heart to feast upon the ‘deep friendships’ they will build along the way.

Although Rudeus doesn’t have slaves, he does have friends in both as an adventurer and as a student in the Magic Academy. He may not look at it but Rudeus likes girls too much. Which results in his awkwardness with other girls and doesn’t even know what to say to a damsel.

In that way, Rudeus is similar to Diablo who looks composed on the outside but really rumbling on the inside. Well that and they are adventurers as well who are really well-known for their strength and capabilities.

If you haven’t seen How not to summon a Demon Lord yet, then it’s about time to let your imagination go wild.

 

20. Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious

Have you seen a hero that is so powered up that even the gods who summoned and trained him are fearful of him? To the point that they don’t want to be involved with him? Well, let me introduce to you Seiya Ryuuguuin, the most overpowered hero ever summoned by the goddess Ristarte. The only issue is that Seiya is overly cautious over everything, and that includes the one that summoned him as well.

This Isekai series is ridiculously funny to the point that whenever there’s an enemy Seiya meets, he defeats it through his “cautious training”. No one can escape his brutal attacks, not even a speck of dust or cockroach where he literally incinerates them until he’s fully satisfied that it won’t be a threat to him. (Dang, I’d be praying for the soul of the person who’s choosing Seiya to be their bodyguard).

Although Seiya’s cautious training looks ridiculous, it proves justified and helpful in defeating their foes in the long run. So prepare your lungs and be cautious of your air tank as you take this humor-filled anime series. You could say Seiya is Rudeus if he let his over cautiousness take over him a couple of times.

 

19. Wise Man’s Grandchild

Kenja no mago or Wise Man’s Grandchild is the story of Shin, a common day salary man who was reincarnated as a young orphan trained by an old wizard named Merlin Wolford; who happens to be a well-known national hero of their kingdom. As a result of his rigorous training in magic, Shin became one of the prodigies of the Magic Academy.

Shin became a prodigy in magic and combat skills but because he was brought up alone by Merlin, his social awkwardness became more obvious upon entering the Kingdom’s Magic Academy. As much as he wants to live a normal life, it is impossible now because he’s already an established local celebrity.

With the evil that is threatening the kingdom, it is up to Shin and his new found friends to hone their skills, and be strong enough to protect and defend their homeland from the invaders.

Like Shin who was brought up by a couple of heroes, Rudeus grew up trained by the sword by his Father who was a previous warrior adventurer and his mother, their party healer. In other words, they have both been prodigals since birth. No wonder their foes have a hard time facing them in battle. I wonder who would win if they fought in a duel. 

 

18. Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

After working countless overtimes and sleepless nights, Ichirou Suzuki finally took a nap only to wake up and discover himself in a Fantasy RPG world. Surprised with the attack of hundreds of Lizard men, he immediately used his cheat skill, killing off all of them. And with that, his level and stats were boosted to 310 making him god-like in this new world.

See what a quick nap can give you? Don’t underestimate the power of a nap. Although, Rudeus took more than a nap. Rather it was supposed to be an eternal slumber already. Well aside from the process, Rudeus and Ichirou both received cheat skills of their own. And while having your matured memories & knowledge remain intact in your young stature is already a cheat, what more if you have so much mana potential in you?! 

Add this to your watchlist and you won’t regret it.

 

17. Fabiniku

Two friends with opposite personalities but one is awfully handsome but is peerless and the other one has a lot of friends but can’t even get a girlfriend. In other words, one wants friends, the other one wants a girl. Then comes along a goddess who transported them both in an unfamiliar realm. This is the story of Tachibana and Jinguji and their misfortune of a love story.  

Tachibana’s dream was just to only have a girlfriend with unparalleled beauty and by the goddess’ power, she turned it into reality, the only downside is, Tachibana became that unparalleled beauty. The only way to return her to being a guy again is for both of them to finish off the demon lord. Easy, right? But nope, with the mischief of the goddess, Tachibana’s beauty was more like a curse; for every male that looks at her will be captivated and that includes Jinguji.

Now, can Jinguji resist the tempting cuteness of Tachibana or will it be Tachibana who will succumb to his feelings first for Jinguji? This is unlike any isekai you have watched yet, it’s more than the battle of wits but also the battle of hearts. Will they live happily ever after as a couple? Or will they just forever keep their feelings to themselves? 

Like a couple of the anime we discussed earlier, Fabiniku’s similarity to Mushoku Tensei is their way of being transported to another world by a supernatural being. For in this case, it’s a goddess who just likes to have fun with other world dwellers. Also, somewhat like Rudeus, Tachibana and Jinguji have been given a curse as well. And for them to lift it up they have to do the goddess’ bidding. What’s that curse you may ask? Well, that’s for you to find out.

 

16. KonoSuba

After dying in a laughable and pathetic way, Satou Kazuma aims to be a great hero and live the most comfortable life in the new world he’s in, but misfortune quickly came after him when he thought he could bring the goddess Aqua as his ultimate weapon, only to find out that she’s completely useless.

To make matters worse, they were later joined by another useless Swordswoman named Darkness and a mage who just uses one magic technique and after is deadweight named Megumi. Will Kazuma be able to defeat the Demon King with his useless party members? Or will he just give up on living and accept his fate?

While Kazuma and Rudeus died in their previous lives and were transported to a new world by a supreme being that don’t look similar at all, their ways of being reincarnated are quite different. Rudeus was reborn into a baby while Kazuma was still the same pathetic boy in real life.

Though somehow different, their humor and attitude are not far-off. For both of them love wealthy living, longed to be loved and to be respected. Both of them also became the party leader in their distinct parties as adventurers. I would love to see them in a crossover, that would be hilarious.

 

15. Overlord

From a Demon Lord, to a Demon King, and now, an Overlord over the undead has come to prove that he is above all else. His name is Momonga the guild master of the guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, in an MMORPG called YGGDRASIL. While waiting for the game to be put down from the gaming community, Momonga logged on to reminisce about the glorious days of their guild.

One last glance of their glorious guild stride then closed his eyes. But to his surprise, in opening them again, he became the Skeletal Overlord who has his loyal generals with him. Having to relive again the excitement and the feeling to rule over all what fellow guild mates left, Momonga changed his name to Ainz Ooal Gown and carried his guild’s name.

Ainz continued his conquest in this new world with the hopes of finding other members of his guild and to know why he was transported to another world. A story of self-discovery and the psychology of a creature beyond concerns of ethics that has almost limitless power. Dang! Almost all MCs in this list are crazy strong and have a lot of girls around them.

And that doesn’t exclude Rudeus. It is given that every strong protagonist is surrounded with pretty female leads. Rudeus is surrounded by pretty companions, well aside from his mother and siblings. There is Eris his cousin, Sylphiette his elf childhood friend and other friends of his father who like to cuddle with little Rudy. 

That aside, Rudeus and Momonga have a similar goal in the series and that is to discover the mystery of them being brought into the new world. While building their names up for the world to remember along with their companions’. Both Rudeus and Momonga are willing as well to do whatever it takes to protect the ones they love.

 

14. Knights and Magic

Ever since Tsubasa Kurata died in an accident and got reborn as Ernesti Echavalier also known as “Eru” into a medieval world fighting of huge demon beasts, his dreams came true when he got the chance to drive a giant, powerful robot called a Silhouette Knight.

Eru and Rudeus were both reborn into young lads who had their previous memories & knowledge intact. Making them both prodigies of their generation. Eru is basically Rudeus that uses Mecha in battle rather than a staff. They both love reading, reinventing, exploring, and love to study their passion. But will these be enough to achieve their goals in the new world they are living in?

 

13. In Another World with My Smartphone

Like Touya here, Rudeus was reborn into a parallel world where his knowledge and experiences helped him a lot as he grew and became an adventurer. They both have excellent magic affinity, favor from men, and charm to opposite gender as well. However, Rudeus must learn from Touya’s gentle words for women.

 

12. Misfit of the Demon King Academy

After the long countless wars and strife, Anos became tired of the bloodshed and made a deal with the hero, Kanon, to ensure peace. Anos sacrificed his own life believing for a world of peace, only to see that after 2000 years, the higher royal demons are harshly ruling over lower class ones.

Along with Misha and Sasha, Anos’ pureblood descendants, he makes a ripple in the world once again by enrolling in the Demon King Academy and not minding becoming a misfit of the new generation. Being reincarnated into a human but still having godlike abilities, his goals are easily being achieved step by step.

Not minding having the label of a total misfit of the academy, Anos decided to reclaim his title as the Demon King but first he has to graduate. See guys? Even the Demon King has to finish his studies first before ruling over the world.

Like Rudeus who was diligent in his study of all magic that feeds his curiosity. Although he is nothing like the Demon King Anos, his heart for his families, friends and hometown aligned with Anos’ desires. And like Rudeus who is caught in a power grab of royal status, Anos aims to be Demon King again to pursue peace for all and equality to all his domain. This is another must watch of a series like Mushoku Tensei. 

 

11. Re:Zero

While just having to buy something in a convenience store, Natsuki Subaru was summoned into another world. His confusion and fear was all the more enraged when he was attacked. Luckily, a mysterious silver-haired girl appeared and saved Subaru.

He thought he was already safe when assailants took their lives away; yet Subaru woke up before the time of their death and thought it was a dream. After dying a few times, dying again and again, he then realized he’s got an ability called “return by death.”

Can he save the world and the ones whom he loves by using the ability that he has or would death eventually catch up with him?

Being reborn a couple of times is what Subaru and Rudeus have experienced both. And both of them know what it’s like to die painfully and it’s no fun.

Both of them experienced the fear of death to the point it haunts them in their sleep, the fear to lose their loved ones in front of them, and the feeling of being powerless despite all of your hard work to be stronger.

Both of these anime series are full of emotions as well and will surely make your heart loved but at the same time cry.

 

10. The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat

In the afterlife, he was met by three gods and they quickly grew very fond of him. These three gods unanimously decided to send Ryoma to his new world as a cute lad. And there, he met a lot of new people that love and care so much for him.

With the use of his creative ideas and abilities, combined by the blessings of the three gods, he began his fun-filled adventures along with the new friends and family he has created. Truly all of those things are because of the grace of the gods.

Both Rudeus and Ryoma strive to accomplish their goals in their respective worlds. Ryoma is like Rudeus who met a god/s who is fond of him and has decided to give him another life in another world. They both quickly gain a family, who lovingly accepts them, friends that treasure them so much, and a life that has a true purpose than the one they had before.

I might call By the Grace of Gods as just Mushoku Tensei with no fights and pure love alone and simplicity. It’s a heartwarming anime series.

 

8. My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

She also brought with her, her attitude that is like Rudeus at times. Yet, the most similar of them both maybe is their goal in mind, how to survive in this strange place. As they began to understand who they really are and what they need to do to return back home.

Another Virtual Role Playing Game turned into a life or death game but the only difference between the fore mentioned SAO is that when players die here, they are resurrected in the cathedral and a slight deduction in their stats. Log Horizon is like SAO where people were sucked into the game they were playing and they inherited the skills of the class they have chosen.

Isn’t that cool? Imagine being a ninja or an assassin, you can sneak into the kitchen and get food easily without getting caught at all. Anyways, our Main Hero is Shiroe (Mage), an awkward person in real life but with the mind of a great strategist. Along with his friends, Naotsugu (Knight) and Akatsuki (Assassin), they made a guild of their own called Log Horizon.

Together with a few more friends from other guilds, they sought to find the answers to their question. Who brought them to this messed up world and why were they chosen among the other people in the world? 

Log Horizon is a series that tackles the importance of friendship, the sides of humanity and the truth about their world. Which is also what the Mushoku Tensei series tackles. To show that it is still possible to trust people even in the most confusing times. To show all the sides of humanity through rough and difficult times and to discover the truth of the new world they are in.

Shiroe is like Rudeus as well who takes precautionary steps before moving and being the mage in their party, he strategizes the battle plan in their missions. Are you intrigued by who Shiroe and Rudeus are? Wait no more and see them already in their respective series.  

 

6. Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest

While started as a safe playing game it turned into a life or death game by being unable to log-out from their Nerve Gear (Virtual gaming consoles). You need to sharpen your skills, polish your abilities, and train hard for you to survive.

Survival is what drives Kirito, our main protagonist here in SAO. A normal student turned into a fine swordsman, thanks to his advanced knowledge of the game, being in the game before. With these assets in his hands, he started to become one of the formidable players in the game along with Asuna, his love interest. 

The goal of the game is to reach the final boss and defeat it so that they can return to their normal lives. They go on a journey, not knowing that the final boss they have to defeat is closer than they think.

Sword Art Online became a death game the moment Kirito and the other players logged into it. While in Mushoku Tensei, being reincarnated in Rudeus’ world is already a life and death decision everyday.

Although the way they were transported into the new worlds were different, Kirito’s character and defiance to the game master is the same drive of Rudeus. He cares for his companions and family dearly, that he is willing to sacrifice his life for them just to ensure their safety. 

The animation of both series is superb as well along with its plot and character development. So don’t miss out on both series, it is worth the watch.

Belittle Tanya and that will be your downfall; she’s the epitome of small but terrible for her sole goal is to get back on being X. So don’t try to anger her or else you’d be toasted by her magic that even changed the tide of an entire war.

Tanya is a force to be reckoned with. Though may be small in stature don’t let that blind you least you’d regret underestimating her. And who is like her in her stature? Of course, our Rudeus who is another small but terrible person to mess with, in a sense that he is like a kid but also one of the strongest mages in his generation.

Both Rudeus and Tanya aim to defeat a god-being of their world.  Both of them are master strategists as well of their well-developed grpi[s.

Lastly, Both of them prove to not judge a book by its cover.

 

2. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

The next one on our list is not to be messed with; he may be a cute slime, but beware of his heart of gold and monster-like ability.

Satoru Mikami had a monotonous life as a typical corporate worker in Tokyo, not even capable of landing himself a girlfriend. One day, he was stabbed and became a victim of a street assailant ending his unfortunate life. Guess what happens next? Right on! He woke up in a new world, a fantasy world at that. And not just a new world, but also a new life!

Although Satoru became a goop of slime, he acquired a handful of skills through his power to mimic the skills and abilities of those whom he devours. In a cave, Satoru came upon the Storm Dragon Veldora whom he befriended because somehow he can relate to the beast.

When Satoru devoured Veldora with the promise that one day, he will be set free, Satoru gained Veldora’s divine protection and skills, making Satoru as strong as a Catastrophe level monster! Satoru also changed his name to Rimuru Tempest and started to make ripples of change in this new world he came into.

Rimuru’s similarity with Rudeus is their mature thinking that they got in their previous lives. Their calmness and reasonability before getting into battle and their decision making as well. Both of them were reincarnated but into different beings, Rimuru as a slime and Rudeus as a young boy but both of them inherit great magic affinity and favor from those around them.

Watching their enemies being grounded to a pulp is really satisfying to watch as well. So don’t miss these series.

Belittled and ridiculed by his friends both in real life and in this new world, Naofumi has no one to trust except himself now. Being the Shield Hero of the Cardinal heroes, he has no choice but to submit to the kingdom.

When Naofumi uncovered the truth of his calling and gifts and with the help of Filo and Raphtalia, he later on emerges as one of the strongest and was beloved by many of the land. Will this be enough to fulfill his calling as the Shield Hero who will save the world from the waves?

Being an outcast in his previous life, Rudeus knows exactly how Naofumi feels in the real world. Both have similar sense of justice when it comes to defending the weak but at the same time the sense of profitability in every mission they uphold. But both of them are willing to fight to the end for the sake of their family and friends.

Their stories are somewhat similar to each other as well. With Naofumi fighting off the ‘waves’ along with the other heroes to cleanse his bad reputation as the Shield Hero and Rudeus fighting his way to other lands to find his way back home and make the Superds’ reputation good again.

Will they ever achieve their goal in this world?  Or will greed of power overtake them?
