Pride month has passed, but we still celebrate the gender recognition of everyone. In fact, there are over 64 genders that can define a person. He or she could be pangender, bigender, nonbinary, etc. But one of the most recognized ones we have is transgender.

“Transgender” is an umbrella term for people who identify themselves as having a different sexual orientation than what was assigned to them at birth. Moreover, they could be living a different lifestyle than what society has set them to do… maybe because it is something that they want. This kinda reminds us of other anime characters that have backstories of why they chose to have the gender difference they have right now. 

I know you are quite curious about those anime characters that are either known or secretly transgender. So, without further ado, here’s the list of the best transgender anime characters.

Even though she was smart and good at making plans, she was killed by Jack the Ripper’s men. Mad Saulus, who was in love with Blue, swore to get even with Jack for assassinating her.

She is shy, but Kinatarou finally started to believe in her way of life when her style icon, Sachiko Ogasawara, handled and treated her too well regardless of the gender she had.

He is calm and serious and almost never loses his temper, but he often gets angry and upset when Enma Daiou or Hakutaku are around.

Makoto, who goes by the name Mako, is a male-to-female transgender teen. She is in the same class as Yoshino and Chi, and she is a close friend of Shuichi.

You can also use gender-neutral pronouns to talk about Mako’s birth gender. When she acts like a girl in her teens, she uses female pronouns.

Shuichi and Makoto are about the same size, but Makoto is a bit shorter. Makoto’s body is a little bit rounder, but he is not fat at all. In the same way, they have round faces that make them look like women. Mako’s medium-brown hair is cut in a bowl shape, and small bangs fall across their forehead.

Yoshino has gray hair with gray highlights and wears it in a bowl cut like a boy. They have deep brown eyes that look a little greenish and even beige skin.

Being biologically female isn’t that too recognized for his appearance given that he’s too tall and masculine compared to the females of his age group. Most of his classmates actually find him handsome and charming. Together with his good charisma and sense of fashion, he can easily make a person fall in love with him.

Momoe would save Kaoru in her dream, and the fact that yet another girl appreciated her didn’t surprise her.

He does have the power to control his own body and the bodies of other people. For example, he can make other people more resistant to disease or give them the strength to keep going even though they are hurt.

In the Steins; Gate, she is shown to be Rintarou Okabe’s student. Okabe calls himself a “mad scientist,” and he ends up making a strange device. Okabe took her on as a student without her permission, but she doesn’t seem to mind.

In the Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Nagi has been shown to be friends with the main characters, Shizuku and Ikki Kurogane. She was an orphan who lived in a rural orphanage. When the town’s mayor tried to attack the orphanage, Nagi used her mystical abilities of a Blazer to defend it.

She needed to win the big battle by any means, so she pretended to be nice. Eventually, though, she gave up on her goal of becoming a nice person for real.

This boy, after being cursed to become a girl, has actually been trangederized. I don’t know the term for that, but the main point is that he’s now a girl. 

Ranma is about the same height as other characters his age, though Akane Tendo and a few of the other girls are shorter than him, and Tatewaki is taller. He is shorter in his female form than in his male form, and he is shorter than Akane.

In Blackbutler, Grell is the servant of Angelina Durless, who is known as the high society’s queen with a scary look about her. Grell is actually a grim reaper sent to earth to do his job.

She made a deal with Angelina and started working for her. Grell is given to a person who likes to kill people because the sight of blood excites her… well she’s just generally obsessed with the color red.

Even though Hana calls herself a woman, she was actually a male. She tends to end up having the life of a woman because of how she feels about herself.

Hana lives as a transwoman because her foster mother was also a transwoman. Because of her mother’s brave choices, Hana decided to live a life without having the fear of society.

Hana is a mother in the anime. On New Year’s Eve, she finds a child who was left alone and takes her in. She swears to find the child’s real parents and teach everyone a lesson. The fact that she helped the child who didn’t have a family shows how kind she is.

Shuuichi is actually biologically a boy, even though she looks and acts like a girl. Society couldn’t recognize her as a man because she looked, acted, and talked like a woman. Shuuichi himself liked it when people treated her like a girl. In short, she changes from a man to a woman.

Even though she only has a few friends, Shuuichi was portrayed to be a very helpful and friendly person in the anime. People are more likely to like her because of being truthful and genuine.

Shuuichi has become friends with Takatsuki, who is biologically a girl but grows up to be a boy. Because they both chose the same path in life, they became good friends.

Okay, so you have been introduced to some of the terms under the umbrella term “transgender.” You are presented as a transman, a transwoman, a genderqueer bisexual person, and many more. But keep in mind that you should mistook a male character as transgender just because he looks like a girl… Remember that Inusoke looks a lot like a girl, but he’s sure that he’s straight, 

Actually, we still have numerous lists of characters that are worthy of being included on this list. In fact, some of them are a bit lowkey. Just like in a typical real-life situation, people are afraid of disclosing their gender orientation because of the standards that have been set by culture and society. Respect and peace are universal standards, not a fragile masculinity mixed with homophobia.
