History

Mushoku Tensei is originally a light novel series written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka. It was published on a web novel website in November 2012. A manga series was released in June 2014. The anime series Mushoku Tensei was released in January 2021. The second half of the series was released in October 2021 and ended in December of the same year.

Mushoku Tensei Watch Order

Mushoku Tensei has two parts that were released in 2021. The watch order of Mushoku Tensei is not very complicated as you’re supposed to watch Part 1 first and Part 2 after that.

Mushoku Tensei Part 1

Mushoku Tensei tells us the story of a 34-year-old NEET who completely shut himself in his house after being subjected to constant bullying. One day, he ended up saving a bunch of students from getting into an accident but ended up getting involved in that accident himself.

Now, instead of dying, he woke up in another world as a baby named Rudeus Greyrat. He has his memories from the previous world so he quickly adapts to the ways of the new world. He trains with his teacher named Roxy Migurdia and polishes his magic skills. His father also teaches him swordplay. He comes across a girl named Sylphiette and befriends her quickly.

Rudeus is all ready to experience this new world in a different way than the older one and wishes to find the love and friendship that he always yearned for.

Mushoku Tensei Part 2

Part 2 opens with Rudeus and his cousin Eris Boreas Greyrat transported to the Demon Continent after the “Mana Calamity”. They come across an intimidating demon named Ruijerd Superdia who becomes their traveling companion. The three form a group named “Dead End”.

As an adventurer party, they want to get to their home safely and Ruijerd is there to make sure that they’re safe all the time. Hitogami still comes and talks to Rudeus and Rudeus always ends up following his advice. This time, Rudeus was told to save the great emperor of the demon world named Kirishika Kishirisu. Rudeus is rewarded by Kirishika and receives some mysterious powers. Rudeus continues his journey home while also worrying about his family. Will he be able to reunite with his family and also make Roxy reunite with hers? They have no idea what kind of troubles are waiting for the trio.

Mushoku Tensei Major Characters

1. Rudeus Greyrat

Rudeus Greyrat is the main character of the series who used to be a shut-in NEET in his previous life. He was born into a fantasy world as a child named Rudeus Greyrat. Rudeus is a very friendly yet calm individual. He’s always very careful and aware of his surroundings because of the bullying he faced in his previous life. He makes sure to stay humble no matter what. He’s extremely kind and caring and will always be there for his family and friends.

Rudeus doesn’t like violence and hesitates killing anyone in front of him. He’s also very insecure about his abilities. Overall, Rudeus is a sweetheart and everybody around him likes him.

2. Roxy Migurdia

Roxy is a mage belonging to the Migurd tribe. She left her tribe as she was the only one who could not use teleportation magic. She ended up becoming Rudeus’ tutor and taught him magic.

Roxy is a very calm and level-headed individual who rarely shows her emotions. Even though she’s quite powerful, she never lets it get to her head and is always trying to improve herself. She also can’t work under pressure and tends to make a lot of mistakes.

Roxy looks like a child but is definitely not one. She hates getting treated like a child and gets annoyed when someone mistakes her as a child. She’s also very caring towards Rudeus and is always watching him and praying for him from the shadows.

3. Sylphiette

Sylphiette is Rudeus’ childhood friend and is an elf-human hybrid. Sylphy is adorable and shy. She got along well with Rudeus and had massive respect for him because he saved her from bullies. She’s quite knowledgeable about a lot of stuff and is very reliable.

As Fitts, Sylphy became more boyish and cold. She acted like a true knight and threw away her girliness. Sylphy is also quite powerful and capable.

4. Eris Boreas Greyrat

Eris Boreas Greyrat is the second cousin of Rudeus Greyrat. She appears to be a very arrogant, cheeky, and violent individual. She took great pride in her being a noble and looked down upon ordinary people. She has a short temper and she burst out on Rudeus when she first met him.

In reality, Eris is very insecure about her abilities. She also gets flustered around Rudeus when he tries to touch her or accidentally touches her. Later, Eris became quite calm and collected after training on the Holy Land of Swords. As a child, Eris was shown to be very excited when she saw something she had never seen before. Eris cares about Rudeus and her loved ones a lot. She would never hesitate going into the battlefield even knowing that her opponent is much stronger than her. She’s always there to help her loved ones.

5. Ghislaine Dedoldia

Ghislaine Dedoldia belongs to the beastmen race and is the mentor of Eris. She’s a very capable and serious individual. She’s seen to kill anyone who is a threat to her loved ones without even hesitating. She appears to be very boyish and also has a muscular body due to intense training. She doesn’t usually show how she feels. She’s always there to listen to the problems of Eris and gives her the best advice.

6. Paul Greyrat

Paul Greyrat is the father of Rudeus Greyrat. Paul is shown to be a very upbeat and playful guy. He cares a lot about his family and is very protective of them. He’s shown to be a womanizer before he married Zenith. His womanizing tendencies mellowed down after he married Zenith. Paul is also very impulsive and also jumps to conclusions quickly. Paul does appear to be not a very serious person but he’s not a bad person at all.

7. Zenith Greyrat

Zenith Greyrat is the mother of Rudeus Greyrat. She has a very loving and motherly personality. Though Zenith appears to be a very lenient mother, she can be strict at times. Zenith is also very protective of her children. Zenith doesn’t like the fact that Paul is a womanizer and often lashes out on him for being immoral. After the Teleportation Labyrinth Incident, Zenith became emotionless and would look as if she’s constantly in the state of trance.

8. Lilia Greyrat

Lilia Greyrat used to be Paul and Zenith’s friend back then but ended up becoming their maid. After an incident, she ended up becoming Paul’s second wife and grew close to Zenith.

Lilia is shown to be a very calm and collected individual. She doesn’t show her emotions nor speaks much because of her status as a maid. But she truly cares about the Greyrat family, especially Rudeus.

As a guard maid, she’s shown to be very brave and true to her duty. She’s also very loyal towards her masters.

9. Hitogami

Hitogami is the “God of Humanity”, as he proclaims to be one. He’s also the enemy of Dragon God, Orsted. Hitogami often comes to Rudeus’ talks and gives him advice which always proves right for Rudeus.

Hitogami is very casual and friendly for a god. Hitogami is a big manipulator and often manipulates Rudeus into doing things that he wants. Hitogami appears to be a sadist as he enjoys making people destroy what they care about the most.
