The Promised Neverland is a harrowing story of the lives of orphans living in Grace Field House orphanage. On the outside, it looks like the perfect place for parentless children with decent food and a loving “mother” in the form of Isabella. However, our MC, Emma, discovers the dark secret hiding beneath the perfect orphanage. It’s no kidding these MCs are Geniuses.
Let’s have a look at the characters of Promised Neverland, their birthdays, and personalities. If you look closely, you may find you share a birthday with one of them; I did … and we share a name!!
BIRTHDAYS OF PROMISED NEVERLAND CHARACTERS
January
7 January – Leslie (No: 71584)
Leslie is a child at Grace Field under the care of Sarah who was the mama at the time. Leslie was a musically talented child, and wrote her own songs, one of which Isabella sang to her unborn child. At the age of 12, Leslie was shipped out to the demons.
8 January – Mark (No: 79294)
Mark is a 5 year old boy under the care of Isabella at Grace Field, and was perceived as a low quality good due to his age. He is a chubby boy, who has blue hair that sticks up from his head in the shape of a leaf stem. He was a happy and cheerful boy until he found out his supposed fate.
15 January – Ray (No: 81194)
Ray is one of the main characters in Promised Neverland and since he is one of the top three in terms of intelligence, he is considered high quality goods. He is extremely intelligent, hence he used it to formulate a plan in order to protect his friends, especially Emma and Norman. Ray is 11 years old at the beginning of the series and is the real child of Isabella. He is dark-haired with green eyes.
29 January – Vincent
Vincent becomes a main character during the Cuvitidala Arc where he is shown to be a boy with a loyal and protective personality, especially towards Norman. Unlike some of the others, he was born at Glory Bell. He is a clever boy and excels in science and medicine. He is tall, with dark skin, and is bald, additionally, he has stitches which form a plus sign on his head.
February
2 February – Zazie
Zazie is a 5 year old boy who was raised as an experimental project at Lambda. He always has a paper bag covering his head, which has Z-shaped eyeholes. He wears twin sheaths on his back, and a toy tiger hanging down his chest. Zazie is either unable to speak or just doesn’t want to—physical and emotional trauma can do that to a person! He deserves to be an MC of a revenge manga.
2 February – Michelle
Michelle was a minor character at Green Fields. She is older than the MCs by around two years. A pale skinned girl with curly hair that she wore in a ponytail, Michelle was a caring girl. Unfortunately, she was shipped out on her 12th birthday—just like the fate of so many orphans.
19 February – Pepe
Pepe is a character at the Goldy Pond Hunting Grounds where he became a member of the resistance against the Poachers. He is a boy with dark skin, and red coloured dreadlocks. He has an O-shaped scar on his face by his left eye. Once he is introduced as a character, his caring and hardworking nature is plain to see.
28 February – Dominic (No: 07294)
Dominic is a 6 year old boy at Grace Fields, who is considered to be an average quality goods. He is a normal 6-year-old, full of energy and playful. However, he is also seen as willing to risk everything for his siblings, which is not something any 6-year-old should have to do! He has dark skin with grey hair and big brown eyes.
March
21 March – Norman (No: 22194)
Norman is a major character in Promised Neverland, and a close friend of Emma and Ray. Alongside Emma, he discovered the reality of what happened to children when they were adopted! Before he had a chance to escape, he was shipped on his 12th birthday. His fate, however, was different to others and he was sent to Lambda.
He is incredibly intelligent, which made him a premium quality good. Norman is a born leader with white hair and blue eyes.
23 March – Cecile (No: 726840)
Cecile grew up at Grace Fields. Cecile was offered a chance to join the sister program instead of being shipped out. The sister program is not a walk in the park and if you do not work hard, you are shipped. Cecile is a kind girl, but she must survive, and this leads her to being deceptive when she needs to be.
27 March – Nigel
Nigel was born at Grand Valley before being sent to Glory Pond to be prey for the Poachers. After losing his sister to the Poachers, he joins the resistance. He is a tall teenager with hair that resembles a seedling. Although he usually wears an aviator hat and goggles, the seedling is always on show! Due to his previous loss, he is protective of his friends, Zack and Gillian, and will do anything to save them.
April
9 April – Olivia
Olivia was a minor character from Grace Fields, who was two years older than the MCs. A young girl with dark skin and black deadlocks, she was shipped on her 12th birthday.
14 April – Rossi (No: 50394)
Rossi is a 5 year old boy at Grace fields, who is a low quality good due to his age. He is a typical 5-year-old, energetic and playful. He is pale skinned with green eyes. He is seen to be highly intelligent for a 5 year ol.
25 April – Anna (No: 48194)
Anna is a 9 year old girl at Grace Fields. With fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes, she looks like a sweet little girl. She is intelligent and will fight to protect her siblings. Despite her gentle nature, she can be extremely hard headed when she needs to be.
28 April – Lannion (No: 54294)
As a 7 year old, Lannion is seen as an average quality good. He has blonde hair which kinda looks like an onion. He has light blue eyes and a cheeky smile, with a missing tooth. He has a typical personality for his age, playful and loves pranks with his best friend, Thoma. He is intelligent and creative, but also a bit of a coward deep down.
30 April – Cislo
Cislo was an orphan at Goodwill Ridge. He was transferred to Lambda. The experiments gave him incredible physical strength which came in useful once he was rescued by Norman, using his alias, William Minerva.
A stout boy, with black hair and a large white X across his scalp, Cislo hates demons with passion.
May
13 May – Gilda (No: 65194)
Gilda is a 10 year old who lives at Grace Fields. She is an extremely intelligent girl and is considered a high quality good. She is a quiet girl with olive hair and green eyes. She wears large glasses and is mature for her age, but hardworking and brave.
15 May – Chris
Chris is a 5 year old boy at Grace Fields and so is considered to be a low quality good due to his age. He is a typical young boy, playful and curious with blue, spiky hair and indigo eyes.
22 May – Sandy
Sandy is also from Grand Valley and was shipped to Goldy Pond, where she joined the resistance. Despite the hardships of their lives, she is a happy girl with a green afro. She also has an eyepatch decorated with pictures. Her favorite seems to be a smiling piece of broccoli!
June
3 June – Sonya
Sonya was at Grand Valley before being transferred to Goldy Pond. She earnt the place of second-in-command in the resistance due to her intelligence and clear thinking. She has light blue hair, pale skin, and freckles on her cheeks. She is capable, able to make plans, and will do everything in her power to help others.
12 June – Violet (No: DIV332-19 on chest)
Violet was originally at Grand Valley before being moved to Goldy Pond to act as prey. She lost her family to the Poachers before joining the resistance. She develops an aggressive side to her personality in response to her losses. This girl is out for revenge, and with her short violet hair, plain looks and violet eyes she is commonly mistaken for a boy.
18 June – Barbara
Barbara is friends with Cislo and was also experimented on at Lambda. She was subjected to experiments which led to extreme strength for her age but ended up damaging her mind. She is 100% loyal to Norman and calls him Boss. Despite her feminine looks, with long brown hair and a pink streak, she is an incredibly angry girl. She hates demons and lives to catch them and do to them what they do to the children shipped to them, including eating a demon or two!
July
4 July – Don (No: 16194)
Don is a 10 year old boy at Grace Fields. He is extremely intelligent which makes him a Decent Quality Good. He had a special relationship with Conny before she was shipped. He is tall for his age, with dark skin, short black hair, and brown eyes. He acts childish at times…to be fair he is a child! He saw Norman as a rival which made his behavior worse. He is very caring but is prone to acting before thinking.
7 July – Zack
Zack was at Grand Valley Orphanage before being transferred to Goldy Pond. He is tall, with dark skin and dark hair, which he wears spiked with a bandana covering his forehead. Zack is extremely brave and will do anything for his friends, even risking himself to save others in the hunts. He has a scar across his face and is considered the most experienced survivor of Goldy Pond. He is an expert with weapons and at escaping from Poachers.
14 July – Isabella (No: 73584)
Isabella is known as mama and her role is to care for the orphans at Grace Fields. She comes across as a loving and caring role model but as time passes, you see coldness in her eyes when children get shipped to their fates. Isabella was due to be shipped on her 12th birthday but was offered the chance to join the Sister Program.
Isabella is a fair skinned woman with purple eyes. She wears her dark hair in a bun. She realizes that Ray is her biological child when she hears him humming a song, she would sing to him when she was pregnant.
15 July – Krone (No: 18684)
Krone is another character who was offered the chance to join the Sister Program, which although better than being fed to demons, is not an easy life. If you mess up, you still get shipped out. Krone is a large, muscular woman who comes across as extremely intimidating.
She has dark skin, with brown eyes and a black afro style haircut. Her resemblance to some of the children is also noticed by fans!
20 July – Jemima (No: 31394)
Jemima is a 5 year old girl, so she is considered to be a low quality good due to her age. She is a normal five year old with dark skin, brown eyes, and dark curly hair which she ties back in a bun.
31 July – Phil (No: 34394)
Phil is a 4 year old boy at Grace Fields and therefore considered a Low Quality Good. He is highly intelligent. When Emma leaves, she tasks Phil to look after the younger children until she gets back to rescue them.
He has a smile which people say makes him look cat-like with blue eyes. He is a happy child and seems older than he is.
August
22 August – Emma (No: 53494)
Emma is the MC in Promised Neverland and the one who, with Norman, discovered what was really happening. She is extremely intelligent and one of the top three at Grace Fields and classed as Premium Quality Goods, with Norman and Ray.
She is a caring and determined girl with pale orange hair, which she wears in a scruffy style. It sticks up in all directions with two longer bits of hair by her parting and her neck.
Emma leads the escape from Grace Fields and seeks for a way to save any more children being shipped to the demons.
27 August – Carol (No: 53494)
Carol is a minor character and one of the youngest children at Grace Fields. She is 1 year old and was brought in to replace Conny when she was shipped. She is a cute little girl with orange hair and blue eyes.
30 August – Thoma (No: 55924)
Thoma is a 7 year old boy at Grace Fields and considered an average quality good. He is best friends with Lannion and enjoys causing trouble with him. He is a typical 7 year old in many ways. He has black eyes, and a cheerful smile with a prominent missing tooth.
September
1 September – Alicia (No: 71394)
Alicia is a 5 year old girl at Grace Fields and therefore is considered a low quality good. She is intelligent for her age and uses that to get exactly what she wants. She is an outgoing little girl, a bit of a tomboy, and a natural leader to the younger children.
She has curly orange hair and amber eyes.
3 September – Conny (No: 48294)
Conny was a 6 year old girl at Grace Fields whose shipping started the whole rebellion by Emma, Norman, and Ray. She was a pretty girl with blonde hair that she wore in pigtails and large blue eyes.
She was known to be a kind girl but also very forgetful. Her forgetfulness led to Emma and Norman discovering the horror of what was really happening to the ‘adopted’ children. Conny had a favorite toy, Little Bunny, who she was never without. She forgot to take him when she left, so when Emma and Norman tried to take Little Bunny to her, they accidentally found out Conny’s real fate that also applies to all other orphans.
17 September – Sherry (No: 74394)
Sherry was at Grace Fields House but was transferred to a different plantation when it burnt to the ground.
Sherry loves Norman and would act happier when he was around. She is a small girl with blue eyes and strawberry blond hair which she holds back with a headband.
23 September – Peter Ratri
Peter Ratri is the main antagonist in Promised Neverland and an all round awful human being. He has no redeeming features at all. He is the man in charge of the Promise between the humans and demons.
He even looks like a bad guy, with a cruel face and white hair which reaches to his shoulders. He has green eyes, which are a family trait. He wears a white suit, but he is no angel!
He will do anything to keep the Promise, seeing the children as little more than livestock who he needs to produce to keep power.
30 September – Gillian
Gillian is one of the older characters at 15 years old. She was originally at Grand Valley before being sent to Goldy Pond with her sister, who did not survive the Poachers.
Gillian has blue eyes and blond hair which she covers with a pink beanie hat. Her hat is always covered with patches, either a star, a heart or a bunny shape.
October
10 October – Jin
Jin is a minor character, who was factory farmed and then sent to Lambda to be used in experiments. He was at Lambda until William Minerva rescued him.
He is an average boy, with black hair and a white ponytail. He covers his lower face with a bandana.
10 October – Hayoto
Hayoto was brought into the world in the same way as Jin and used for experiments at Lambda. He has spiky blond hair and green eyes.
Despite the horror of his upbringing, he has a cheerful boy but tends to be cautious.
25 October – Oliver (No: AII899-890 on chest)
Oliver is a Grand Valley orphan who was sent to Goldy Pond. As a result of his experience as prey for the Poachers, he hates them with a passion. He went on to become one of the leaders of the Goldy Pond Resistance as an excellent marksman.
He is an average boy with red eyes, and white hair which has a red highlight. This boy should have been a Romcom MC if it hadn’t been for demons. He should’ve been in an anime where the mc gets into a relationship.
November
28 November – Lucas
Lucas managed to escape from Glory Bell but he was caught by the Poachers. At the time, it is believed that Lucas was killed.
However, he survived and a couple of years later he resurfaces as part of the Goldy Pond Resistance. He was not unscathed hence he now has heavy scarring on his face, and lost one of his arms. He also must use a cane due to his injuries.
Despite what he has been through, Lucas carries on. He is a tall character with maroon hair and thick black eyebrows.
December
7 December – Sarah
Sarah is a minor character and a nasty woman. She was the Grandmother figure at Grace Fields Headquarters and functioned as mama to Isabella when she was a child.
Sarah is an older woman, with grey hair and wrinkles but she tends to be shown in the shadows which adds menace to her character. She is a sadist, and there is nothing nice to say about her.
9 December – Paula
Paula is a minor character from Grand Valley who later becomes a member of the Goldy Pond Resistance.
She has long black hair and covers her lower face with a bandana.
18 December – Nat (No: 30294)
Nat is a 9 year old boy at Grace Fields. He is a normal young boy with brown eyes and burgundy hair. He has a strange obsession with his nose, thinking it is the best nose ever.
He has a creative personality, especially towards music. He is a cheerful boy and can stand his ground around people who are cruel towards him.
24 December – Yugo
Yugo is another character who escaped from Glory Bell. He made his way to Shelter B06-32 where he spent many years living alone. This caused him to withdraw and become depressed.
He is an adult with black hair, streaked with white and hard, cold eyes. He shows hostility towards Emma and the others when they meet but mellows slightly as time passes.
31 December – Yvette (No: 59294)
Yvette is a 5 year old girl at Grace Fields and considered Low Quality Goods. She wears her black, spiked hair in a kinda mullet style.
She is creative and is an artist who comes in useful drawing maps. She is a bright young girl and shows herself to be very observant and determined.
Conclusion
Promised Neverland is a story of survival at all costs. The children are raised as livestock and it will take everything they have to find a way out of their nightmare. Although Promised Neverland is a bleak story in many ways, I think it shows how hard people will fight to survive, and this is something that has been seen many times in the history of mankind!
