Come on, don’t lie, I know that you have searched for a watch guide on an anime before. I mean, everyone has probably searched for an easy-to-watch guide on some other anime… even I have. After all, we can’t do anything.
The producers sometimes release sooooo many seasons, and it just makes it kinda confusing for us weebs to know what season to watch first, or what movie to watch after this season. Anyways, I got a little carried away from our main topic.
Digimon Series is a really popular anime, I literally grew up watching Digimon! Lemme explain Digimon’s storyline first, then we will proceed with the watch order! Digimon follows the story of 7 kids who one day, got transferred into some kind of digital world.
In this digital world, they can collect Digimons, and they can also evolve, I mean Digivolve, and become really powerful to fight the enemies. How do they Digivolve? You may ask. Well, they can Digivolve their Digimons with the help of Digivices. I won’t spoil everything though, you will have to keep reading this blog to find out what happens next!
Let’s start with our today’s topic, Digimon Series Watch Order!

Digimon Series Release Order
Digimon currently has 10 seasons, and I will be giving a short summary of each one of these seasons.
Digimon Adventure Season 1
This is the first season of Digimon Series, and it aired from 1999-2000. I already explained at the beginning what happens in Digimon, but I’m gonna just tell it again real quick. 7 kids get trapped in another world.
They were given devices called Digivices, and they can also catch Digimons. With the help of their Digivices, they can enhance their Digimons strength and stuff. These kids are known as the DigiDestined.
While they were on an adventure, a Digimon attacked them. This Digimon wasn’t normal though, he was an evil one that has the ability to corrupt other Digimons, this evil Digimon was called the Devimon!
But our MC and the others defeated him. Then someone called Gennai instructed these kids to go to Server Continent where they will find Crests that can max out their digimons power.
Digimon Adventure Season 2
This is the second season of Digimon Series, and it aired from 2000-2001. This season was pretty good not gonna lie. This season follows the story of the Digimon Emperor.
This Digimon Emperor is the king of the whole world. You might think that this Digimon is nice, right? Well he is not. He is a Digimon that is turning other Digimon into his slave, and so to defeat him, 3 new DigiDestineds were introduced. These 3 possess D-3, a digivice that lets them travel to a digital world with any kind of computer.
With the help of these 3, our MC goes on a journey to defeat this “Digimon Emperor.” Now, I won’t spoil the rest of the story though.
Digimon Tamers
This is the third season of the Digimon series, which aired from 2001-2002. This season follows the story of three kids, or you can say, three tamers.
One of the tamer that goes by the name of Takato Matsuki, who one day, decided to put some kind of Blue Card on his D-Arc. What does this blue card do? You may ask. Well, this mysterious looking card lets a tamer create their very own Digimon.
This season was mostly set in the real world rather than the digital world, as the REAL world was invaded by Devas. It turns out that these “Devas” were just trying to protect their own world, meaning the Digital World.
Digimon Frontier
This is the fourth season of Digimon Series, which aired from 2002-2003. This season was quite interesting to watch, not gonna lie.
Digimon Frontiers follows the story of our MC’s, who were not able to go to the Digital World. How? You may ask. Well, it was because of some strange and mysterious call that they received.
Our MCs go to the railway station so that they can take a train that can lead them to the Digital World. Who is behind all of this? Well, it was Cherubimon, and his servants.
Digimon Data Squad
This season was released after quite a while, this is the fifth season of the Digimon Series, and it was aired from 2006-2007. This means, there was a 3-year gap between this season and the previous season.
This season had a lot of characters, as the storyline was changed a bit and was made better + the character design was improved in this season so that this anime can attract more weebs like me.
This season mostly focuses on the DATS, also known as Digital Accident Tactics Squad. DATS are those people who are trying to hide the fact that the Digital World or the Digimon exists from other people.
They are also trying to fix any kind of problems that are happening on earth that are related to the Digital World. But soon, everything changed because of a certain scientist who was trying to use these Digimon for his own good, and because of that, a big conflict happened between the Digital World and the earth.
Digimon Fusion
Digimon Fusion is a little different from the other parts. This season consists of 3 sub-seasons. I will not be explaining each season individually, but I will give a short summary of each season combined to save your time!
Digimon Fusion follows the story of Mikey Kudo, who was able to get the Fusion Loader and then forms his own team. In the meantime, Lord Bagramon, who was trying to collect Code Crown Fragments to rule the world, but Mikey finds out about him and starts to collect the fragments before Lord Bagramon can.
Then Mikey Kudo, Christopher Aonuma and Nene Amano started to fight with the generals of Lord Bagramon after he decided to divide his empire into seven different kingdoms; he was also using Ewan to fight back.
After around a year, Mikey Kudo finds some kind of region that was between Earth and the Digital World, it turns out that the Quartzmon was gathering or absorbing data. Tagiru and Gumdramon, with the help of the Brave Snatcher, go to defeat this Quartzmon.
The series ends with the group planning what they will do in the upcoming future.
Digimon Adventure Tri
Digimon Adventure Tri is like a Film Series that consists of 6 different parts. I will give a little explanation of each of them, but I won’t spoil too much as spoiling is no fun! Lemme start explaining.
Digimon Adventure Tri: Reunion
Tai was starting to feel really sad as he and his partners were starting to slowly get separated until Kuwagamon arrived and because of Kuwagamon, there were some issues and glitches in the Digivice.
And due to the issues in the Digivice, Agumon arrives and with the help of Agumon, Tai starts to fight the Kuwagamon and soon defeats him and then starts to study more about Kuwagamon and how he made the Digivice glitch.
Digimon Adventure Tri: Determination
Digimon Adventure Tri: Determination revolves around infected Digimon. What are these infected Digimon? You may ask. Well, they are Digimon who are starting to act in a weird, and berserk kind of way.
There are also 2 agents Maki Himekawa and Daigo Nishijima, who are trying to find out more about these infected Digimon. There is also someone called Jou Kido, who has been trying to avoid these Digimon issues so that he can live a normal life in his adulthood.
And because of that, his Digimon partner, Gomamon ran away leaving Kido behind, and there is Mimi, who had been living in the United States for a long time and returned to Japan, and was having trouble with her class. Will these 2 be able to stop the threat?
Digimon Adventure Tri: Confession
The Chosen Children were in for a big shock when a Digimon that goes by the name of Meicoomon betrays the group after it joined them a while ago. Izumi was determined that he will find a solution to Meicoomon’s infection.
Then suddenly, Takeru notices that Patamon is showing the infection symptoms when soon, a mysterious being calls the group, telling them that the earth and the digital world are in great danger, and if they don’t do anything soon, both worlds will be destroyed.
He tells them how he wants to reboot the digital world that will fix everything and even erase the virus, but the issue is, that it will remove all the memories of the Digimon. What will the chosen children do in this situation?
Digimon Adventure Tri: Loss
The children were able to meet their fellow partner digimon, but because of the reboot, the digimons were not able to remember these childrens. As the children were trying their best to talk to their Digimons, an evil Digimon appeared.
This evil Digimon attacked the group which resulted in everyone separating. In the real world, Daigo Nishijima found out about some kind of being and gave a warning to everyone. This being was called Libra.
Digimon Adventure Tri: Coexistence
Meiko Mochizuku was having a hard time with her partner Digimon, Meicoomon, because it was forced to digivolve into Meicrackmon, and then goes to create some havoc around the Digital World.
In the real world, Meiko’s father and Daigo Nishijima were visited by someone who was actually a messenger for an unknown and mysterious being. He tells them that Homeostasis is trying to destroy Meicoomon for some reason that I won’t spoil!
Digimon Adventure Tri: Future
The children were really sad and angry at the same time because they thought that they lost one of their friends that goes by the name Tai. Unsure what to do, they ask Yamato Ishida for help, but he is also not sure what to do in this situation.
They were determined to save the world, so at last, they decided to fight the demon Digimon, Ordinemon, who was going on a rampage. Even though some of these children didn’t have their fellow Digimon, they had to fight for their own future.
Digimon Universe: App Monsters
This is also one of the seasons of the Digimon Series that aired from 2016-2017. This season revolves around Haru Shinkai, who was living in the year 2045 where technology has advanced A LOT!
There is also App Monster, a kind of place for monsters. One day, Haru Shinkai finds Appmon in his device and then becomes friends with him. Appmon tells Haru that there is someone who is making a virus that will turn the App monsters bad.
Digimon Adventure
This is the latest season of the Digimon Series. This season aired from 2020-2021. Digimon Adventure follows the story of Taichi Yagami, a normal kid who was living in 2020 where technology is really good.
One day, he finds out that his mother and his sister are on a train that won’t be able to stop, basically unstoppable (DUH). He goes to the station and suddenly gets transported into another world and meets Agumon.
He also gets a Digivice. Taichi Yagami finds out that he is in a digital world and there is an infected Digimon who is the reason behind the mysterious events that are happening in the real world.
Only Taichi and Agumon can stop them.
Digimon Ghost Game
There have been some strange things happening over the past few years, many people have complained that they have seen some paranormal entity, something like Hologram Ghosts. Yes! Hologram Ghosts.
And no, this is not just a rumor, it’s a real thing. Many people have been taken by these Hologram Ghosts. The MC of this season is Hiro Amanokawa. He is just a regular kid who thinks that these Hologram Ghosts and other related stuff are just mere rumors.
But he is not completely sure, his father suddenly disappeared one day and left behind something called a Digivice. One day, his friend was actually attacked by a Hologram Ghost, that’s when he first found out that Hologram Ghosts actually exist.
He starts to look more into these mysterious creatures, but he finds something much worse… that I won’t spoil!!
Digimon Movies Release Order
There are a lot of movies in the Digimon Series and I will give a short summary of each one of them! Lemme start with:
Digimon Adventure
This movie was released in 1999 and follows the story of an egg that one day hatches inside the computer of Taichi Yagami and his sister, Hikari Yagami. Soon, it hatches and becomes like a dinosaur.
Soon, this dinosaur-like monster starts to roam around the streets of Tokyo when another egg comes from the sky and hatches, it then starts to fight the Dinosaur like a monster in front of many kids.
Digimon Adventure: Our War Game
This movie was released in 2000, and it follows the story of Taichi, Kamiya, and Sora. It has been around a year now, and the so-called DigiPelts were just sitting around when Izzy finds some kind of virus that is affecting the DigiEgg.
Izzy runs to Taichi’s house and tells him what happened, she borrows Taichi’s computer and starts to control the Digimon when a Gennai suddenly appears.
Digimon Hurricane Touchdown
This movie was also released in 2000, and the story revolves around the DigiDestined who one day found another DigiDestined that was living in the United States with his Digimon, but somehow, his Digimon was a victim of a powerful virus.
Digimon: The Movie
This movie was released way back in 2000, and this movie goes 4 years back in time when Tai and Kari had no connection to the Digital world, and how one day, they found a Digimon. This movie is old, but it’s different from the rest.
This movie also shows what happens to the kids, by kids I mean the DigiDestined and how they connected to the Digital World. The rest is then the same as the Digimon Adventure Movie (1999).
Revenge of Diaboromon
This movie was released in 2001.
It has been 3 months since they defeated the MaloMyotismon. One day, Diaboromon attacks and sends Kuramon to attack the real world, with the help of Omnimon, they are able to defeat Diaboromon.
Have you ever heard of the quote “Nothing is how it seems”? Well, they thought they defeated Diaboromon, but it was all a trap and because of that, more and more Kuramon attacked the world.
When they thought nothing could go any worse, it got even worse. The Kuramons in the real world started to merge, and it created Armageddemon, a powerful Digimon that is REALLY, I mean REALLY strong.
What will the kids do in this situation?
Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna
This movie was one of the latest ones, it was released in 2020. This movie was quite different from others.
Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna revolves around the DigiDestined and the digital world, and how they come to realize that as they grow, their relationship with their partner Digimon is starting to slowly come to an end.
And how as they are fighting, their relationship is slowly breaking apart.
Digimon: Battle Of Adventures
This season revolves around Takato, who was spending time with his cousin, Kai. One day, a computer virus called V-Pet was found and Mephistomon accidentally deranged the global connectivity.
And he allowed Digimon to come into the real world. The DigiDestined, with the help of Seasoramon, goes to defeat Mephistomon. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, this movie was released in 2001.
Digimon: Runaway Locomon
While the Digidestined are busy trying to prepare for Rika’s upcoming birthday, Parasimon, who was in control of Locomon, makes a connection between earth and the digital world. And because of that, the city was invaded by Parasimon’s army.
But they were quickly defeated. This movie tells us more about Rika and stuff. This movie was aired in 2002.
Digimon Frontier: Island Of The Lost Digimon
There were around five DigiDestined who were just going on their adventure when suddenly, they spotted an island in the distance. This island isn’t normal though, it is an ancient one! Now, some of you will think that humans live on this island.
Well, if you think that then you are wrong! There are actually Digimons that live on this mysterious island. There are 2 types of Digimon that live here, one is the Human-type and the other is, of course, a beast-type one!
They are actually serving their god, Ornismon.
Digimon Savers the Movie: Ultimate Power! Activate Burst Mode!
This movie is mostly based on the Data Squad, the Digidestineds were trapped in some kind of endless nap. A girl arrives at Agumon, Lalamon, and Gaomon. This girl isn’t normal though, though she is actually a Digimon!
She tells them how it all happened because of the Digimon, Argomon. They were determined to save everyone, so they went to fight him.
Digital Monster X-Evolution
You know how there are tons of Digimon in the Digital World right? Well, what will happen if they become so much that the computer handling the Digital World can’t take it anymore and has to do something?
Well, that was the case in Digital Monster X-Evolution. The digital world has soooo many Digimon that the computer that was handling the Digital World, Yggdrasil, can’t handle it anymore.
So, it removes 98% of the Digimon in the Digital World. How did the rest survive? You may ask. Well, they gained a new power called X-Antibody. Yggdrasil sent the Royal Knights after them, but they won’t be defeated so easily.
I won’t spoil the rest for you!
Digimon Series Special Episodes
Digimon currently has 2 Special episodes and I will be giving a short summary of them. OVAs aren’t really related to the main story and are just made for fun, many people decide to skip them, but I don’t think you should if you want a little more fun!
Digimon Savers: Agumon! Gaomon! Lalamon! Bakuretsu! Jougai Last Battle!
This special episode doesn’t have its own unique episode or anything like that, this Special Episode is basically a recap of the Digimon Savers TV Series but in one episode. If you think Digimon Savers is long, then this is a Special Episode if perfect for you!
Digimon Ghost Game Recap
This is basically a recap of the latest season of Digimon, Digimon Ghost Game Recap.
Digimon Series OVAs
Unfortunately, there are no OVAs in the Digimon Series, there are still a lot of other stuff that you can watch tho—I mean, there are soooo many seasons and movies in Digimon! Maybe Digimon will release OVA in the future.
