Every manhwa can bring us into a rollercoaster of emotions. Some can make us happy, some can make us angry, while others can make us feel frightened. But if there is one thing that makes any manhwa we have read sooooo good, it is if it can make us cry.
I know you have already watched some anime that can make you cry too much. Well, it’s kind of a different perspective when you start reading the manhwa before it gets its adaptation. Tho some of the manhwa on this list already have adaptations, reading them is still a different level of experience.
So… I know you’re quite curious about how this list will go, so without further ado here’s the list of manhwa that will surely make you cry a lot.
KOREAN WEBTOONS THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY (RECOMMENDATIOS)
21. The Cliff

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 14/20 | 6/10 | 6/10 | 6/10 | 32/50 |
Life has been creating accidents in some of the things we do. Some even inevitably happen in our most precious times. Well, this is kinda similar to what the next manwha is all about.
The story of this manhwa begins when two men fall into a cliff by accident. They thought it would just be a fun hike for them, but everything turned into a disaster. The only option they have is to just wait for someone to save them. But it is quite difficult given the fact that everything there is isolated. It really became a place of fear, conflict, and frustration.
I know that this may sound depressing, but I’m sure this one is something you can partly relate to. Different things being shown in this manhwa might be something that can make you cry.
20. What It Means to Be You

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 14/20 | 6/10 | 6/10 | 7/10 | 33/50 |
From what we know about the past, people who have arranged marriages don’t seem to like their partners very much. People say that Princess Violet will marry Winter, who is the illegitimate son of a nobleman and has pretty bad patience for a person who has a cool and good name. I mean, who could marry someone that will only cause them more trouble that benefits them?
Violet’s original reason for marrying Winter was to pay off her family’s debts, but she fell in love with him instead. The ruse didn’t last long, though, and soon the royalty of her family’s name became a joke and she was called a con artist.
After living a life that was a nightmare, the former princess takes a chance and ends up in… Winter’s body!? Will they be able to agree on something, or will it end in disaster like it always does, or even worse, dare Violet say? You have to read this Korean webcomic to believe it.
19. Actually, I Was the Real One

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 14/20 | 6/10 | 6/10 | 7/10 | 33/50 |
Imagine being the daughter of a Grand Duke and not getting his love, but then being told you’re not really his daughter. How can Keira’s life get any worse!?
After Cosette set her up and got her condemned to death, Keira awakes two years earlier with a chance at a better life. Do you think this could give her the push she wants to cease threatening Cosette from using her own family against her?
18. Please! Mr. Bear!

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 14/20 | 7/10 | 6/10 | 7/10 | 34/50 |
This manhwa will take you away from your busy, ordinary life and put you in the middle of a love story that will make you cry. We’re sure that a lot of us can relate to the MC, who lost the woman he had loved for a long time.
You’ll want to cheer for the main character as he gets to pick up the pieces of his broken heart and learns what it means to learn to start loving again. After what he’s been through, it won’t be easy for him to find out what love means, and yet he plans to make it possible again.
17. Noru

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 13/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 34/50 |
Have you watched at least one of the Maze Runner Series? If so, is there a part of it that made you cry a lot? Well, seeing people struggling just to survive is really something that makes your heart weak to the point that your eyes shed tears. This actually has a similar setup to the next manhwa on our list.
This manhwa is actually based on a post-apocalyptic setting where the two MCs have traveled the world to document the remains and the records for future generations. This actually brings them into a difficult situation where they’re just left with nothing but the fact that they only had each other.
You could also experience different things that could make you cry a lot. This manhwa will prove that life and existence itself could be one of the saddest ones.
15. Timeless Melody

|
Impact |
Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 15/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 6/10 |
35/50 |
Stories that can make us cry vary depending on what type of person is really making us cry. It can be from a history-based story like Titanic or a BL love story like I Told Sunset About You. Well, this next manhwa is actually a combination of both and just sprinkles a little bit of defiance into our culture.
The story tells us about the things that could possibly happen to a Korean immigrant in the 1960s in America. This actually tells the story of Jeon Byunghoon, a second degree immigrant in America with his lover, Yoon Minseok. Both of them are actually duet partners.
Well, the thrill of this story actually began when Jeon Byunghoon reminisced about the past they had with his loving duet partner. Well, just like how Rose reminisced about her story with Jack. This story is actually something you should start watching.
15. Sad Love Song

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 16/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 6/10 | 36/50 |
There’s actually a list of love songs you can listen to—love songs that will make you feel happier, love songs that can make you feel about life. But for this manhwa, love songs aren’t the same love songs that make us fall deeper in love, it is actually one of the saddest ones you’ll ever know.
Our MC, Joon-young, has been teased given that his mother is the owner of a bar that serves Americans. Well, it is kinda an inside-discrimination to them. But one day, he meets a girl named Hae-in. Tho she’s blind, Joon-young still enjoys playing with her. They kinda grew up as each other’s childhood sweethearts. Well, we don’t know what time has brought. Hae-in left Joon-young without even saying goodbye. A few years later, Hae-in met a guy named Gun-woo.
I think this kind of tension is actually creating some kind of love triangle. I can’t even blame nature for being so unfair for creating a beautiful girl named Hae-in. Who do you think Hae-in will choose?
14. Gone

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 16/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 6/10 | 36/50 |
When talking about motivational characters that can make you cry a lot, this manhwa is really something you should include in your watch list. You’ll end up harboring different feelings and emotions towards the characters.
Well, the story of this manhwa began with a man who fell from a building and was saved by the firefighters, only to disappear after getting rescued. This somehow tells a lot about the title of this manhwa—Gone. This is actually caused by a virus that makes humans start losing their mass, which causes them to float then go invisible. As soon as the virus enters the body of the host, they will eventually disappear.
The plot of this manhwa actually revolves around two different setups, the first one is the romantic relationship and love interest of the characters, while the second one is about someone who is losing his pregnant wife. You can clearly know which part of the plot will make you cry the most… it is actually the time when the people you love the most are now Gone.
13. Cierra

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 15/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 36/50 |
We all know the risks of time traveling. Well, the butterfly effect can tell us how time should not be messed up. And as you can see in our title, this manhwa is actually named after the MC of this manhwa. She was just actually forced to marry someone who was not Claude LeSpencer, the person she loved the most,
Before Cierra changed her mind, she had done everything. Since she and Claude LeSpencer are both not even legitimate heirs of their families, our lovely main character is totally in love with him. They tried to hide from the eyes of society as well as the disapproval of their family from each other.
Now, Cierra has chosen to leave it all behind, including her family, the watchful eyes of society, or even Claude, her fated lover. This is where she tries to test the power of time she has. All of this in the hope that she can have a better life without him… But will this turn out to be worse than she thought?
12. Pandora’s Choice

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 16/20 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 6/10 | 37/50 |
Racism has been one of the many troubles this world is currently facing. We have to deal with stuff that we didn’t even choose. There are times when Africans get discriminated against because of their skin color; Indians get discriminated against because of the way they eat and speak; and Asians get discriminated against just because of their eyes. These are stories of immigrants who really want to just live in a place where they are politically safe, but not protected from discrimination. There are numerous stories that can really make you weep a lot, just like the story of the next manhwa on our list that revolves around a half-asian who tries to live in 19th century America.
Life in nineteenth-century America for Asians and other races has been very difficult. They usually cope well with stuff that they are not even used to. The conflict between these countries actually created a lot more tension, to the point that they are even having a hard time coping with their livelihood. Even for a half-Asian life our MC who even has a hard time making social life.
I cannot even imagine how long our MC could handle extreme discrimination in the decades before Martin Luther fought racial discrimination. How do you think he can handle living in a place where he is not even welcome?
11. My Boo

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 17/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 38/50 |
Are you familiar with the drama Oh My Ghost? The story of this manhwa is actually quite similar to the story of Oh My Ghost. It is because they are both about people who fell in love with ghosts.
I know that some of you are even afraid of seeing ghosts. Some do not even attempt to dream of interacting with one. But to tell you the truth, the romance between two different worlds is the thing that can make you cry the most. It sounds like “I love you, but we can’t be together” and I think it is one of the most painful things to say.
You may think a human-ghost relationship is one of the most untouchable relationships given that everything should be on the most honest and open page when the truth is, you have been flipping your pages in different books.
10. Diamond Dust

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 17/20 | 7/10 | 7/10 | 8/10 | 39/50 |
Music is one of the things that keeps us together, makes us feel happy, sad… but for our MC, music is something that makes his father proud of her. Well, it is because he was really raised not to have a normal life but to have the life his father wanted. She was used by her father to become the most popular pianist in the world. Yes, this manhwa revolves around perfect piano pieces.
Her father limits her social life, makes her wear gloves when she’s not playing to protect her hands, and doesn’t let her have any luxuries. All this lady ever wanted in life was the liberty to do the things that she really wanted to do.
All her desires come true when she meets a man who is enjoying the liberty he has. Do you think this young and dependent girl will always be just a slave under her father, or will something force her to take her place as a free person? And will her newfound freedom make her want to find love and start her life? Just read the entire manhwa and prepare some of your tissues because I’m sure that you’ll be crying all the way to the end.
9. Annarasumanara

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 40/50 |
I know that everyone is having a hard time aging. It is quite difficult to really adjust into something you are not even designated to work into. You just start learning the process of life. Well, for Yun Ai, these are just the parts she’ll be working on.
There are times you fail to adjust to your comfort zone. Mostly, everyone fails to work on things beyond their zones of comfort, much like Yuni’s experience as she attempts to live her life while surviving high school and being able to support her younger sibling. Well, she believes in magic. This actually somehow gives her life a few more smiles.
She grew up dreaming of becoming a magician, and after meeting one, her beliefs in her ability to become one were strengthened a lot. It is really the right dose of watching experience for her. The sad and financially-constrained decision-making she has. This burden is quite heavy for everyone, but do you think they can pass this one?
8. About Death

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 18/20 | 7/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 40/50 |
Some of you wouldn’t have any idea how a fantasy-based manhwa can make you feel so sad. Well, for this Korean comic, the reason for making people sad here is guilt and reflection on life as they step by step approach the Grim Reaper.
You could also be questioning things like death and life. Well, the true answer to things like this is very philosophical. It depends on the things you consider part of it. Just expect dark stories that can make you feel scared, guilty, and sad.
7. How to Get My Husband on My Side

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 17/20 | 7/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 40/50 |
There are times when most people just feel okay for a while, smiling and enjoying life, not until that one exact trauma hits and gets triggered—it could be in any aspect. But for Ruby, well, she has the most complex trauma you could ever imagine.
Ruby grew up and was raised to become a political pawn. Guess whose political pawn… well, by his brother and father only because of security. But, she thinks that everything went better after that plane crash, thus transporting her back to the beginning of the novel. Giving her opportunities to fix everything and to gain the trust of his kingdom all over again.
6. Nanohana Boys

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 16/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 40/50 |
When talking about bromance that can make you sad a lot, then this manhwa really is one of the most recommended manhwas we have here. This is actually about a blind man, Onishu, and his friend, Ishida, who is deaf. Does this remind you of someone? Their brotherly relationship is actually one of the best ones we have seen so far.
Onishu was actually an averagely bad boy type of person, but everything changed after that accident occurred. With the disability he has, he actually became friends with Ishida, a deaf person. Well, their first encounter wasn’t that easy, but they still managed to become friends.
Creating a special bond between them, both Onishu and Ishida have lived a life that could be helpful for them two. This manhwa actually ends differently than I expected, but this will actually help you strengthen your bonds with the people around you.
5. The Horizon

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 18/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 | 41/50 |
What could be even more saddening than seeing two children getting engaged in a war they did not even want to happen? Well, this manwha will surely give you one of the most tragic plots you have ever read.
During a war, two kids meet each other by chance. As they escape from the mess of this war, they come to a long empty road. Since there are no adults around to help, the two kids, who are now friends, walk together and see things they do not expect to see along the road. All they want to do is keep moving forward. What are the trials and tragedies they will face as they try to stay alive?
4. The Friendly Winter

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 | 41/50 |
Other than our chromosomes, boys and girls differ in such a way that girls usually start their puberty a year or two earlier than boys. There’s this time when girls are a lot taller than boys at school, but a few years later, girls are just tiny compared to boys. Well, girls also end their puberty earlier than boys, which makes them have the same height at the age of 14. Fun fact: we normally stop growing when our puberty ends, 14 for girls while 15 to 16 for boys.
But cut that out, because you may be in doubt about its inclusivity on this list. This is actually the experience of the MC, Min-Seong, being a young adult at the same height. It’s kinda difficult to reach the standards of this world at that height… well, we can say both figurative and literal.
Well, in these difficult moments, it’s really a blessing to have a person like Dae-Joong. Mental Illness and some slice of life, this manhwa will surely be one of those manhwa that can make you cry ‘til you fall asleep.
3. An Uncomfortable Truth

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 17/20 | 8/10 | 9/10 | 8/10 | 42/50 |
Siblinghood mixed with a little school life may appear to be a little bit of a happy-go-lucky manhwa. Yeah… for most, but not for this next manhwa we have on our list.
If you’re the younger of two siblings, you probably show respect and trust to the older one. In the case of our MCs, Yoseob is the younger one, while Jaeha is the older one, this just means Jaeha will be more responsible and accountable between the two of them.
Unfortunately, Yoseob’s life gets worse when he listens to Jaeha, and he doesn’t even know it. In this Manhwa, Yoseob is a quiet, shy kid who reported it to the police because he is thought to have attacked eight civilians. Well, to add a little bit of psychological, mental illness and thriller, this manhwa will surely be one of the best ones there to read.
2. See, Hear, Love

| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 18/20 | 9/10 | 9/10 | 4/10 | 43/50 |
Have you ever had this moment where you were very good at something but now you aren’t even capable of performing the basics of it? Because if you do, then you will clearly feel our rising comic arctic MC, Geun-Sin Min, while knowing his sight is starting to disappear. It is really something that can trigger his depression a lot.
His depression was also raised by the fact that he knew his mother was also suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and that he could not even perform his daily routine properly. Well, the only solution he has to end this pain is to commit suicide. So, guys, it’s really a must to check on your friends from time to time.
Well, fate really has some parts of it to help our MC. Sori Jhun was a deaf person and was also a fan of Geun-sin Min, who came to him in an attempt to keep him doing the things he loved. This manhwa really has some ways to make you cry, so just pick everything that suits you.
1. Sweet Home
| Impact | Theme | Plot | Art | Total |
| 15/20 | 9/10 | 8/10 | 9/10 | 44/50 |
Knowing the life story of our MC is already making you cry a lot. Well, this is just somewhat of a burden for our MC to really carry everything he never even wanted in life. To enlighten you on what I am talking about, our MC has suffered for his entire life after an accident that cost the lives of his parents. He simply lives his own life by being independent.
The MC that I am talking about is Cha Hyun Su, 18 years old. But, that loss didn’t strangely bother him too much, and he just decided to use his 2 million won to move on with his life. It’s the money he has, from his parents.
After realizing that this is just a small amount of money for him to live a lot longer, he puts a date on his calendar to kill himself because he doesn’t see any reason to keep living. However, something occurs that ends up making him change his mind and put off what he’s trying to do. He keeps finding reasons to stay alive in his building. Well, for people who really suffer from depression, they could really tell how hard Su’s life is.
