Hello to all my girlies! (And the lovely boys who love Sailor Moon). We’re back with another blog and this time, we’ll guide everybody through the correct and easiest watch order for Sailor Moon that you guys need to follow in order to have a smooth and fun experience! Now, if you haven’t watched Sailor Moon, we’ll make sure you watch it after reading this blog. Sailor Moon’s franchise is MASSIVE.  And there are a lot of seasons and movies of this anime that might look intimidating to people because they’re confused about where to start. Worry not. We’re right here to guide all of you. Let’s get started!

 

HOW TO WATCH SAILOR MOON IN ORDER?

1. Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon (1992)

Tsukino Usagi is an average, clumsy and wimpy junior high school girl who is fond of sweets and wears her emotions on her sleeves. She’s spending her day-to-day life peacefully until a talking cat named Luna comes into her life. Luna explains to Usagi that she is meant to become the “Sailor Moon”, a guardian who is supposed to protect the Earth from evil forces. Luna hands her a special brooch that lets her transform. Now, Queen Beryl from the Dark Kingdom plans on attacking the Earth. Usagi must protect the Earth along with a bunch of other Sailor Guardians that she must find first. 

 

2. Sailor Moon R (1993)

After defeating Queen Beryl, Usagi and her friends start living normally again. However, there’s a twist in the story, none of them recalls being a Sailor Guardian. New enemies suddenly appear out of nowhere. They are An and Ail, two survivors of the alien race. They want to save their life force, the Makai Tree, and in order to do that, they’re extracting energy from humans. In addition, a bunch of people want to obtain the Sailor Guardian’s powers for evil purposes. The Sailor Guardians must stop them before it’s too late.

This season also includes the Black Moon Arc which involves a rebel group from the future named the Black Moon Clan who wants to overthrow the rule of Neo Queen Serenity on Earth. This arc also introduces Sailor Pluto to us.

3. Sailor Moon R Movie: Promise of the Rose (1993)

In this movie, we’re introduced to Mamoru’s old friend who couldn’t survive on Earth. He returns to Mamoru with the flowers he promised him during his childhood. However, his weak mind is manipulated by the evil flower named Kisenian. He wants to spread the seeds of the Kisenian flowers all around the world in order to extract energy from humans. Now, it is up to the Sailor Guardians to avoid the destruction that Fiore brought with himself. 

 

4. Sailor Moon S (1994)

After defeating the Black  Moon Clan, Usagi and Mamoru bid farewell to their future daughter, Chibiusa. There is a danger lurking in the shadows. The enemy comes in the form of monsters but there are newcomers who are wearing similar to Sailor Senshi’s uniforms and do not get along with the other Sailor Senshi. The Sailor Senshi are confused about them being a friend or an enemy. 

 

5. Sailor Moon S: The Movie

The Earth is in danger again! An unusual snowstorm is covering every single thing on Earth and it is revealed that the evil Snow Queen Kaguya is behind thus. Meanwhile, Luna has a crush! She was rescued by an astronomer named Oozora Kakeru. When Kakeru becomes ill, Luna wishes that she could be a human in order to tend to him. Anyway, the Sailor Guardians must stop the Earth from getting covered in snow and everyone freezing to death.

6. Sailor Moon Super S (1995)

The main focus in this one is on Chibi-Usa and her aid, Pegasus. The Sailor Guardians are faced with a new enemy in the form of the Dead Moon Circus. They want to find the Golden Dream Mirror that they will use to take over the World. It’s going to be a big challenge for the Sailor Guardians!

 

7. Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (1996)

Sailor Moon Sailor Stars is divided into two arcs. The first arc solves a few conflicts from the Sailor Moon Super S Season. We’re also shown the return of Outer Senshi including Haruka, Michiru, Setsuna, and Hotaru. 

The second arc includes actual events that happened in the manga. Mamoru is leaving for America in order to study. He’s replaced by three boys including Seiya, Taiki and Yaten. They’re an idol trio. The Sailor Guardians are faced with yet another threat. This time, it’s Galaxia, the woman who wants to rule the entire galaxy. She needs to collect the Star Seeds of humans in order to achieve her goal. We’re also introduced to three new Sailor Guardians who want to put an end to Galaxia without Sailor Moon’s help. 

 

8. Sailor Moon Crystal (2014-2015)

Sailor Moon Crystal is the remake of the original Sailor Moon but is more faithful to the manga. It’s divided into different arcs. In the first arc, they combat Queen Beryl and Queen Metalia. The second one shows us pretty detailed adventures of the Sailor Guardians in the 30th century. The third arc tells us the tragic story of the Messiah of Silence.

9. Sailor Moon Crystal 3

In this season, the Sailor Guardians start investigating the students of the elite Mugen Academy where students are being turned into monsters. Our squad meets 3 strange students including Haruka Tenou, Michiru Kaiou and Hotaru Tomoe at the Academy. They also come across new planetary protectors who have different plans than our squad. However, both of them have a single target; the Pharaoh 90 

 

10. Sailor Moon Eternal (2021)

This movie of Sailor Moon has two parts. It shows us the disasters that the Solar Eclipse is about to bring on Earth as it has brought darkness everywhere. Sailor Moon and Mamoru begin to lose their powers as the Solar Eclipse grows stronger. Hotaru and Chibiusa are ready to fight the Amazoness Quartet who are behind all of this. The Sailor Guardians are in serious trouble and they have no time left.
