Fun fact! Did you know that manhua, with a U, is written by the Chinese? Whereas manhwa, with a W, is written by the Koreans. Both of them are read from left to right, while manga, which is written by the Japanese, is read in the opposite direction.

How cool is that!  Who knew comics can be written in so many different ways?  But for today let’s focus more on Manhua and Manhwas. It is very fascinating to see how graphic artists bring the words written by authors to life and make us feel the tension in every scenario. The world of paper and pen is magical.

Similar to anime, manhua/manhwa incorporate a variety of genres. But one of the plot twists I most enjoy is how the female lead character boosts girl power by dressing as a dude!

I’ll therefore list my 12 Manhua/Manhwa about a Girl Disguised as a Boy. I ranked them based on the dates they were released. From the oldest to the new one.

How dedicated can she get to do this! And as expected, people around her didn’t recognize her. But when she meets her target, the Duke, he instantly kisses her!

OMG! A duke kisses her all of a sudden! How fortunate is she!

What do you think? Is the Duke that much of a good kisser for him to get Lindsay’s heart or… would it be the other way around?

Conclusion

In this particular genre, both manhua and manhwa have unique ways of grabbing readers’ attention. 

The plot largely depicts the empowerment and equality of women. That women are capable of performing tasks that men can.They must act in this way either out of duty or to preserve the honor of their families. 

This kind of plot twist will also serve to remind us that love uses the heart to view one’s true beauty rather than the eye to see one’s outward appearance.
